About Sunnymead Guest House

Sunnymead Guest House keeps things straightforward when it comes to eating and drinking: there's no in-house restaurant, but guests have drinks available in their rooms, and a good choice of pubs, bars and restaurants sits within easy reach on and around Bridge Street in Aberystwyth. It suits guests happy to explore the town's own food scene rather than dine in.

Rooms come with en-suite bathrooms, free WiFi, and family rooms are available for those travelling with children. Reception operates around the clock, so arrival times are flexible, and pets are welcome for guests who don't want to leave the dog behind.

The location puts golf, fishing and entertainment venues nearby, along with the Vale of Rheidol Railway as a point of local interest. Aberystwyth itself is a short distance away, making Sunnymead a workable base for exploring the town and coast on foot.

Avoid this place at all costs. This property is absolutely disgusting and should never be advertised as suitable accommodation. We walked into what can only be described as a dirty, neglected mess. The wardrobe is broken, the drawers are filthy, there are no drinking glasses, the mugs still have shop stickers on them, and the TV doesn't even work because the remote has no batteries. The whole place smells and feels unclean. It is impossible to relax, let alone sleep, in these conditions. To make matters worse, the owner is almost impossible to contact, despite working just down the road as a chef. We have repeatedly asked for basic items such as pillows and towels and have either been ignored or left waiting. The lack of customer service is just as bad as the condition of the accommodation. If we had known this property had changed hands, we would never have booked it. We are now trying to find another hotel because we refuse to stay somewhere this filthy. This has completely ruined the start of our trip. Charging people to stay in accommodation in this state is unacceptable. Save yourself the disappointment and book somewhere else. Not a great view i had to click or it wont post !!

Corey is an excellent, well principled host. Due to an error with booking.com, the room had been double booked but instead of cancelling and refunding the room leaving me stuck whilst already on the way to Aberystwyth, Corey had very kindly booked a separate room for me at a nearby hotel. I appreciate the effort and extra spend to accommodate my visit despite it not being his fault.

When we arrived, there were no instructions for check-in or room details. Instead, we were informed by the staff (who was apparently out for a walk) that we should just enter on our own. The main door was wide open, and inside, there was no one—just an eerie, abandoned guesthouse vibe. There was no reception, just a half-closed room filled with scattered belongings, a filthy mess, and what looked like a pile of bedding. We took the only hanging key from the wall (where all the keys were freely available—anyone from the street could have just walked in and taken one!). The room itself was disgusting. Only one main light worked; bedside lamps and the bathroom light were broken. The bedsheets were dirty, and the towels smelled terrible—one even had someone else’s hair on it! In the wardrobe, we found crumpled-up bedding, likely from previous guests, and the drawers were full of random junk like cleaning gloves, light bulbs, and other trash. The shower had black mold, and everything in the room looked like it was on the verge of falling apart. We didn’t even want to touch anything. This was beyond unacceptable—absolutely horrifying.
