What visitors say
If you like gardens you’ll like it. The glasshouse is genuinely impressive and the collection of internationally endangered plants is awesome. The grounds are also lovely and there’s a superb network of paths you can take of varying lengths to explore the estate. I especially loved the Gruffalo themed trail for families - really well executed You get the sense the gardens are a multi-generational project. This will develop all the time. If you not an overly keen plant-watcher the visitor experience is a bit sparse but it’s such a lovely space that it’s worth the effort nonetheless (but not cheap).

This was an impromptu outing meant to fill a couple hours, but wow! This garden is a must-see! There is a little something for everyone to enjoy, from the fascinating glass house, whimsical Gruffalo walk, miles of walking trails, apothecary and vegetable gardens, castle views, flowers galore!, art, lakes and waterfalls… Bring water, put on sunscreen, wear comfortable shoes, and plan to stay a while. I left with lots of photos, ideas for my own garden, and some lovely flowers set out at the honesty box stand. Lovely outing.

The National Botanic Garden of Wales is a beautiful and varied place to explore, with impressive glasshouses, peaceful lakes and wide open gardens that make it easy to spend a relaxed few hours wandering. The Great Glasshouse is a real highlight, with its dramatic structure and Mediterranean planting, but the rest of the grounds are just as enjoyable, with woodland trails, colourful borders and plenty of quiet corners to stop and take in the scenery. Everything feels well cared for and thoughtfully laid out, and there’s a calm, welcoming atmosphere throughout. A fantastic visit for families, gardeners and anyone who enjoys spacious, scenic landscapes with lots to discover.

The few hours we had weren't enough! If you have the time give yourself more than a day. The tickets are valid for 7. We were there in July and it was a blaze of colour. It was absolutely amazing. Some really interesting exhibits too.
