Bannau

Catherine is a great host. She provided lots of local information in advance, allowing us to plan our days and make the most of them. It was clear she was on hand should we need anything! The shepherds huts are very comfortable and well equipped. They have all the kitchen bits and bobs that you need, and helpfully have all the basics that you tend to forget (coffee, tea, sugar, welcome basket - all Welsh which is a lovely touch!) The standard of everything in the huts is top class, and the space has been used expertly meaning that you have everything you need without feeling crowded. There are 3 huts, which are perfectly positioning to give you privacy and enjoy the view. The hot tub was perfect, and Catherine had it set up for our arrival. She also set it up for us on day 2 meaning we didn’t have to add any wood at all during our stay - though all the instructions were very clear should we have needed to. Catherine provided lots of local spots for dining - we visited Blas, which we can highly recommend. She also recommended a running route straight from the hut which had beautiful views (but quite a few hills!). There’s also a lovely cycle path through Ammanford which makes a lovely quiet running route. We had a great stay, and would definitely book again.

We stayed for 2 nights at Bannau in the Amman Shepherd hut visiting from Bristol. We did the four waterfalls walk on our drive over and on Saturday visited Carreg Cennen Castle and hiked Llyn y Fan Fach. We would highly recommend Bannau for its beautiful location which is peaceful and still private. There is a large supermarket nearby and we loved relaxing in the hot tub after long days. The hut is beautifully appointed, with a powerful shower and everything you would need for a weekend stay or longer. Some shepherd huts feel small but this was generously proportioned with plenty of space to cook meals. The bed is very comfortable and we would definitely visit again to enjoy even more of the Brecon Beacons!

I highly recommend Bannau if you would like some time away! From the first moment we got there they were so welcoming. The shepherds huts are so lovely and clean. The use of the fire pit and hot tub were so lovely for the evenings. There is so much to do nearby, also lovely places to eat. I would definitely stay here again! :)

Our stay was fantastic! The Airbnb was absolutely perfect, the attention to detail really impressed us. The place was spotless and had a lovely modern feel. The amenities were perfect and I honestly couldn't think of anything else that could have been added. Catherine even warmed the hot tub up ready for our arrival and there was a tuck shop on sight to purchase ice cream, marshmallows and lots of other things. Catherine was so helpful! She responded quickly to all my messages and helped me sort out birthday decorations. She was so kind when we arrived!! We will definitely be coming to stay again and would recommend it to anyone. Thank you!!
