The Old Stables

Built from stone and converted from its working life as farm stables, The Old Stables retains character while offering all the essentials for a four-person break. The whole property is yours alone, set on a working farm a few miles outside Dundee. Everything is on the ground floor: an open-plan living space with a woodburner and smart TV opens onto a sitting-out area, a separate kitchen with electric cooking and dishwasher, and two bedrooms—one with a double bed and ensuite shower, one with singles. The second bathroom is a shower room. Bed linen, towels and wifi are included, along with electricity for heating; parking for three cars sits on site. One dog can stay free, though it must be kept on a lead given the farm setting.

The location suits those who want quiet countryside but reasonable access to Dundee's attractions—leisure facilities, ice skating, the Discovery museum—which lie about four miles away. The Angus Glens offer serious walking; golf courses, fishing and other country sports dot the region. The coast runs from Broughty Ferry through to Montrose with beaches and local food—Arbroath smokies are the area's famous export. A shop is two miles away; pubs and restaurants about two and a half miles. No smoking inside.
