About Brackenber Moor Caravan Site
Perched on moorland just off the A66, this wonderfully wild little site sits right in the middle of Appleby Golf Club – Willie Fernie's 1903 course offering challenges for all abilities. It's proper back-to-basics camping (the site isn't run by the golf club, so book your rounds separately), with mains water and chemical disposal but no toilets or showers. Think of it as wild camping with a caravan, surrounded by free-roaming sheep and big Cumbrian skies.
The golf course aside, you're well placed for the Eden Valley's walking trails, fishing spots and mountain-biking routes, while historic Appleby-in-Westmorland – all medieval castle and Georgian charm – is just down the road for pubs, restaurants and supplies. Dogs are welcome year-round but must stay on leads given the grazing livestock. A peaceful, no-frills escape for hardy campers who don't need creature comforts when there's scenery like this on the doorstep.
