Ardtun Cottages - The Bothy

This one-bedroom cottage began life as a stable building's outthouse, renovated into a single, self-contained retreat for two. Everything you need fits into one ground-floor space: an open-plan living area with a kitchen fitted for self-catering, a double bedroom with ensuite shower, and heating throughout. Wi-Fi, electricity, bed linen and towels are included.

The Bothy sits in Ardtun, a crofting community near Bunessan on the Isle of Mull's western peninsula. A short walk downhill brings you to the shore of Loch na Làthaich, where seabirds, otters and sea eagles are genuinely common. The grounds have a sitting-out area (shared with other properties on the site), and you get a dedicated parking space. No smoking indoors.

This suits couples after genuine quiet on the west coast, whether for a few days or longer. The landscape here is open moorland and coastal views; the nearest significant settlement is Bunessan. Bear in mind there are steps in the grounds, and mobile signal is limited.
