Charlie's Cottage began as two separate buildings in the 1860s and has been converted into a single four-person home on a quiet lane near Tarbert. The whole property is yours alone. Ground-floor living means everything on one level: an open-plan sitting and dining space with a wood burner, a kitchen with electric cooking and a dishwasher, a bedroom with a king bed and ensuite shower, a second bedroom with two single beds, and a family bathroom with a bath and shower. Linen, towels and Wi-Fi are included; heating is electric and logs for the wood burner are provided to start you off.
The cottage sits just 50 yards from a white sandy beach on Kintyre's western shore. The garden is fenced, has seating and a barbecue, and there is parking for two cars on site. From the house you can see across to the island of Gigha and towards the Paps of Jura, with seals often visible on nearby rocks and otters known to inhabit the locality. Tarbert, a short drive away, has shops, restaurants and pubs, and hosts events throughout the year including a yacht race, seafood festival and music festival. Campbeltown, further south, is home to two working whisky distilleries and several others of historical note.

What guests say
Charlie's cottage is an absolute gem. It's spacious, modern, furnished to a very high standard, so well equipped, comfortable and spotlessly clean. It is situated yards from the beach with wonderful views across to Gigha, Islay and Jura beyond. The garden was just lovely and well maintained. The outside seating area was perfect for BBQing and watching those amazing sunsets. It is by far one of the best cottages that we have EVER stayed in and we rent cottages at least 3 or 4 times per year. Ian and Marian, the owners were delightful, friendly, helpful and kind. The cottage is perfectly located for trips across to the neighbouring islands of Gigha, Islay, Jura and Aran and also for exploring other places the peninsula, namely Campbeltown, Mull of Kintyre and Tarbert. I'm so pleased that we found this beautiful cottage and I have absolutely no reservation in recommending it to future cottage hunters.

Beautiful wee cottage right next to the water. Great facilities and spotlessly clean. All in all a fantastic place for a week away. I just hope I can get in again next year!
