Built in the 1880s, Rhunahaorine Cottage has been restored as a full-equipped holiday home on the Kintyre Peninsula. It sits within a large garden with a wildlife pond, looking out across countryside towards Gigha, Islay and Jura. The cottage comes to you complete, with electricity, heating, bed linen and towels included; initial logs for the woodburner are supplied, with more available separately. One dog stays free.
Inside, two bedrooms—one with a kingsize bed, one with two singles—share a bathroom with a roll-top bath and separate shower cubicle. The ground floor has a living room with a 40-inch TV and wood-burning stove, and a kitchen/dining room fitted with an oven, hob, dishwasher and washing machine. French doors open onto the garden, where you'll find a seating area, furniture and a barbecue; there's also bike storage and parking for two cars. Wi-Fi is available throughout.
The location suits anyone interested in coastal walks, birdwatching—the Machrihanish Seabird Observatory is nearby—or exploring local distilleries in Campbeltown, which has two working examples. The villages of Tarbert and Campbeltown both have harbours, shops and restaurants within reach. No smoking is permitted indoors.
