Tigh na Maraiche works well for couples seeking genuine quiet. This single-bedroom cottage sits in Keils, a small crofting community on Jura, where one road runs the length of the island and darkness falls properly at night. The bedroom holds a double bed, and the bathroom has a bath with shower over it. Everything is on the ground floor, flowing from a sunroom through an open-plan living space with a stone fireplace and woodburner, a dining area, and a kitchen equipped for real cooking—oven, hob, dishwasher, microwave and coffee machine all present. A garden with seating wraps around the property, and parking for one car sits on site.
The cottage includes wi-fi, electricity, bed linen and towels, plus the initial fuel for the woodburner. Two stone outbuildings—one for storage, one for utilities with a washing machine, tumble dryer and freezer—sit nearby. A five-minute walk downhill takes you to the shore. Jura's pace is genuinely different; this is the kind of place where the light looks unfamiliar and days pass without the usual noise. One dog is welcome. The property operates under a no-smoking policy.
