About Kilmeny Country House

Kilmeny Country House sits high on a 300-acre working cattle and sheep farm near Ballygrant, in the quiet heartland of Islay, with wide views over the surrounding hills and glen. Margaret and Blair Rozga have run the house for more than thirty years, and it holds Visit Scotland's five-star Gold award, one of the highest ratings given to any guest house in Scotland.

Bedrooms are traditionally furnished and all en-suite with both bath and shower, and the breakfasts, cooked to order and including options such as Eggs Florentine and Argyll smoked salmon, are frequently singled out by guests as the highlight of their stay. Home-baked treats and a warm welcome on arrival are part of the house's long-standing style.

Ballygrant lies close to Finlaggan, the ruined seat of the medieval Lords of the Isles, and only a short drive from Port Askaig, making Kilmeny a peaceful, well-placed base for exploring the island's quieter eastern side and the ferry crossing to Jura.

I stayed with Margaret at Kilmeny Country House with my husband and dog for 4 nights. We thoroughly enjoyed staying at Kilmeny and would recommend this Country House to everyone. Thank you for your wonderful hospitality Margaret

Hubby and I were on Islay for a few days of relax, enjoy the distilleries and the sights. We had the pleasure of staying at Kilmeny Guest House. An amazing bed and breakfast. The room was spacious, very comfortable and so well kept and clean. The breakfast is amazing and so many choices! Margaret and Blair are lovely hosts and go out of their way to make your stay comfortable. And as an added bonus Margaret makes home made goodies each day (think cake, scones, biscuits). If you are going to Islay, I highly recommend staying here!!

We stayed here with my brother and our partners, and it was the best decision we could have made! From the moment we arrived, the owner Margaret made us feel at home. She is honestly the loveliest lady I met. The rooms were amazingly decorated, beds were really cozy and bathrooms were extra clean. Outside the rooms, you have this huge green garden where there is absolute silence and peace. The breakfasts were delicious. To be honest, the pictures on their website do not do it justice.

This is one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in. We felt very well looked after by Margaret. She had thought of every last detail to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. From the perfectly manicured lawn, to the delicious home-baking and the state-of-the-art telly at the end of the bath! Kilmeny is a farmhouse in the middle of the island up a track at the the top of a little hill. The outlook is beautiful, the room was very thoughtfully, comfortably and tastefully decorated and the breakfasts were possibly the best ever. It is a place to savour for a few nights, rather than a quick pitstop to rest your head as you travel through. Indulge yourself and savour some first class Islay hospitality.
