About Argyll Cabins
Argyll Cabins sits in the Trossachs landscape near Arrochar, surrounded by the kind of scenery that draws walkers and outdoor enthusiasts to this part of Scotland. The setting is remote and peaceful, with wildlife and forest nearby, and a genuine sense of being away from it all. The area around you opens up to canoeing and kayaking on the lochs, cycling routes, mountain biking, fishing, and sailing, all within easy reach.
The cabins are upscale, each with a full kitchen and a hot tub. You get car parking by your unit, and on-site there is a cafe and bar with an on-site restaurant, plus a food shop so you are not entirely reliant on either cooking or heading out. The site welcomes dogs year-round, families, and single-sex groups, and has a play area for children. Cycle hire is available if you want to explore the surrounding countryside on two wheels.
This is the kind of place for people who want proper comfort while being deep in Scottish landscape, within reach of serious hiking and water sports but with the option to stay warm and fed without effort.

Nature at its finest relaxing vibes on the loch. Most stunning location right on loch long waterside cabins inclosed in the mountains. Cant beat it my favourite location so far and ive been cornwall deer park and brecon beacons wales. All beautifull locations but the loch for me is hard to beat 🏴❤️

The Best Forest Holiday Adventure Our first time in Scotland and we stayed here Highly recommend The views were incredible Staff were all highly knowledgeable of the area. They all gave my dog a big fuss every time they saw her. We are looking to book to come again soon. We went in January 2026. Will definitely come and stay again. Even in the winter months!

We had a fantastic 10-day stay at Forest Holidays Ardgartan. The resort is in a beautiful location, making it the perfect base for exploring Loch Lomond and the surrounding area. Every member of staff we encountered was friendly, welcoming and helpful. We stayed in Cabin 2, which was spotlessly clean and very well equipped. The dog welcome pack was a lovely touch and much appreciated, as was the kitchen starter pack. If you’re planning on cooking during your stay, just be aware that you’ll need to bring all your own essentials, as there are no basic condiments, cooking oil, foil, cling film, etc. The nearest big supermarket is about half an hour away so we ordered a delivery from Morrisons - there’s also a small shop in Arrochar. One downside for us was the lack of a washing machine in the cabin. Given the price of the stay (£3000 for 10 days) and the fact we spent most days doing outdoor activities, having one would have been really useful. There is a laundry room on site, but it only has one washing machine and one tumble dryer, and it costs £5 per wash. Inside, the cabins are lovely, with comfortable beds and incredible views. The outside could do with a little TLC, though. Ours had a few areas of rotting and crumbling wood. It didn’t affect our stay at all, but it’s worth mentioning. The hot tub, however, was cleaned and serviced every single day without fail and was always left in pristine condition. The Forest Retreat has a small but well-stocked shop. It’s a little more expensive, as you’d expect, but nothing unreasonable, and the quality of the products is good. Just be aware that it’s card payments only. We ate there once for dinner and twice for breakfast. The food was fine and the service was good. There’s also a small playground and football nets for children. We hired bikes for our entire stay, which I’d highly recommend. There are some beautiful trails to explore, although be prepared for some steep hills! The retreat also hosts quiz nights, bingo and other activities. During our stay they stayed open late to show the World Cup final. We also took part in the Forest Survival activity with the forest ranger, Teigan. She was brilliant—really engaging, knowledgeable and fantastic with the children, who absolutely loved it - would highly recommend. There is free Wi-Fi throughout the resort, but we were told that if we wanted to stream anything we would need to upgrade to the premium package, which cost £11 per day. As we were staying for 10 days, that would have added up to a significant extra cost, so we decided against it. The free Wi-Fi was perfectly adequate for general browsing, and our mobile signal was good enough to hotspot when needed. A couple of other things worth mentioning: the loch is tidal, so rubbish can occasionally wash ashore. If you’re walking along the shoreline with children or dogs, keep an eye out for glass or other hazards. The resort is also close to a fairly busy road, so you will hear motorbikes and traffic at times. That’s obviously nothing to do with the resort itself, but it’s worth knowing if you’re expecting complete peace and quiet. We had hoped to go paddleboarding from the resort, but it’s restricted to over-18s. If you’re visiting as a family, you can paddleboard together in nearby Luss, which is well worth a visit. Overall, we’d highly recommend Forest Holidays Ardgartan. The setting is absolutely stunning, the staff and customer service are exceptional, and we had a wonderful holiday. Our only real criticism is that the cabins could do with a little updating externally to bring them in line with some of other Forest Holidays’ locations. Finally, if you’re looking for somewhere to eat nearby, we’d definitely recommend Cú Mara in Arrochar, Loch Fyne Oysters, and Samphire in Inveraray.

Location is tranquil. The lodges exceeded our expectations. The whole place was clean and clearly well looked after inside and out. It is clear that the team really care and look after the wildlife. A nice place for a variety of groups. We took a 2 month old and really enjoyed it. The team work in the background to ensure things like bins and hot tubs are maintained daily!! They're really attentive with anything you need during the stay. We can't wait to come back! It's made us want to check out other forest holiday parks too.
