About Westover Smarden

Tucked into eight peaceful acres near the village of Smarden, this adults-only farm site offers a proper rural escape, with views across neighbouring farmland and woodland in every direction. The pitches are generously spaced on non-electric grass, and there's an adjacent field for picnics and strolling when the livestock aren't grazing. Facilities are deliberately simple—standpipe water, washing-up area, chemical disposal—keeping the focus on quiet countryside living. Well-behaved dogs are welcome year-round.

Smarden village is a 20-minute walk away, with its pub, tennis court and cricket pitch, though another well-reviewed pub sits just a quarter-mile from site. The pretty coastal towns of Hythe and Rye are half an hour by car. It's a relaxed, unfussy kind of place that suits campers after space, scenery and a genuine taste of Kent farmland—though don't expect elaborate amenities or manicured grounds.

We stayed at Westover Farm for two nights initially, but we enjoyed our stay so much that we had to book a third night. The camping pitch is very competitively priced with excellent amenities; such as the most luxurious porta-potty we have ever used, a shower, drinking water, and a lovely open field. The hosts were wonderful and welcoming, and even offered us and the other campers home-grown plums 😋. Westover also offers lots of scenic beauty surrounding it, with delicious local pubs, an adorable antique store, and everything the small town of Headcorn has to offer. Overall, we would stay again given the opportunity.

Stayed for one night, fabulous location, greeted by the friendly owner who made us feel right at home as soon as we arrived. Excellent facilities provided, very clean with toilet roll, hand sanitiser and washing up liquid provided. We pitched up in a spot next to a beautiful old tree that provided us shade on a hot day. There were a few other guests there but it was lovely and quiet and I had a great sleep. Would definitely recommend a stay, and if I’m in the area again I won’t hesitate to return.
