Ashford's countryside holds several converted farm buildings, but South Stable stands out for its design and setting. This renovated stable occupies 10 acres of grounds near Crabtree Farm, a genuinely quiet location with enough space that you won't feel hemmed in by neighbours. The whole property is yours alone, with private parking for two cars and an enclosed garden where you can sit without watching the road.

Inside, everything happens on the ground floor: an open-plan living and dining space with French doors to a courtyard, a kitchen equipped for proper cooking, two bedrooms (one with a king bed, one with two single beds that zip together), and a bathroom holding both a freestanding roll-top bath and a walk-in shower. Bed linen, towels and electricity are included. The interiors use natural materials and muted colours—greens, greys and warm neutrals—with beamed ceilings and locally made art. Underfloor heating runs through the bathroom; an air source heat pump handles the rest. There's a patio with garden furniture and a gas barbecue, plus a lawned area with children's play equipment (shared with other properties on the farm). Smoking is not permitted.

The location suits families wanting countryside without isolation, and couples after a peaceful retreat. Ashford itself is reachable for shops and services, but most guests will come here for walks and quiet mornings.
