Rothiemurchus Camp & Caravan Park

We had a very warm welcome from campsite staff when we arrived after walking the Lairig Ghru. I really appreciated that they took us in without a booking after the wildfires meant we had to change our plans at short notice. The part reserved for tents was secluded, peaceful and very pretty. There was lots of space and other guests were quiet and respectful. The toilet/shower block was exceptionally clean and the showers were perfectly hot! The surrounding area and the forest is so beautiful. I would definitely stay here again.

I loved this small campsite. The motorhome, campervans, caravans and camping are nestled between the trees in the woods. There is also woodland lodges. We saw some red squirrels, the amenities are very clean and the best we have seen, you are given a key card at reception when you arrive. There is also a laundry. The ladies on reception are really lovely and helpful and are knowledgeable on all the walks are the campsite. There is a beaver trail to a small lake. The beavers were reintroduced not that long ago. Good for walkers and you can ride you bike safety there. I would book your pitch in advance. Differently would go back if we end up back in Scotland. Rothiemurchus Campsite started off as a lovely place for our week‑long holiday. I can’t complain about the facilities, from the little we did use of them, although the inconvenient cleaning times did make it difficult to plan our day around. The conduct of their staff, however, and subsequent behaviours after receiving online complaints was much less pleasant. Twisting the truth and trying to make out like we were disrupting other customers after the fact is not professional or any decent business practice. To clarify: our private frustrations over putting up an awning (we disclosed to you having before arrival over email) after a long 4hr drive the previous day and then a full day of walking, on a very stony touring pitch, seems quite understandable to me. As were our attempts to make it work. We politely asked at reception to be moved onto a normal camping pitch which costs less than the touring pitch we were placed on originally. Rothiemurchus would not refund us the difference in money for the camping pitch. After being offered a refund in place of paying the difference we took our custom to a different campsite. Sadly, it seems that staff were cycling around the site at the time, clearly noticed our struggle (yet didn’t offer assistance), and later used this in response to my partner’s review. They chose to take the situation out of context and use it maliciously online to make themselves appear better. A very disappointing turn of events indeed. We’re genuinely glad we chose not to invest any more of our money into funding such use of staff time...

Absolutely loved my stay at Rothiemurchus campsite. I arrived just after reception had closed on a bank holiday weekend, but Jamie was still there and went out of his way to help me find a pitch, which was hugely appreciated after a long day on the bike. The pitch itself was nestled in the forest and, despite the campsite being really busy, it still felt private, peaceful and spacious. I believe the management has recently changed hands, and you can genuinely feel the effort that’s being put into the place. Everyone was incredibly accommodating and you can tell they’re constantly trying to improve what is already a fantastic campsite. The toilets and showers were absolutely immaculate throughout my stay. I’d happily recommend Rothiemurchus to anyone and would love to come back myself.
