Pinewood pitches on the Rothiemurchus estate, a mile from Aviemore
About Rothiemurchus Camp and Caravan Park
Rothiemurchus Camp and Caravan Park sits tucked among Caledonian pines at Coylumbridge, inside the Cairngorms National Park and a mile from Aviemore. The setting is one of Scotland's largest surviving fragments of ancient forest, with heather and blaeberry underfoot and the Cairngorm plateau visible through the trees—a quieter, more wooded alternative to the bigger sites near the ski road. Around seventeen level pitches with electric hook-up serve caravans and motorhomes, while tents are scattered on separate grass patches among the pines. Facilities punch above the modest scale: a heated amenity block with showers, dishwashing area and a separate laundrette.
What really justifies the pitch is direct access to some of the Highlands' finest low-level walking and cycling. Paths lead through the forest to Loch an Eilein's island castle, the Lairig Ghru pass, and on to Loch Morlich with its sandy beach and watersports. The Cairngorm Reindeer Herd, funicular and ski area are a short drive up the valley. Expect around £40 a night outside school holidays, higher in peak weeks. With so few pitches, booking ahead is wise.

What visitors say
Absolutely loved my stay at Rothiemurchus campsite. I arrived just after reception had closed on a bank holiday weekend, but Jamie was still there and went out of his way to help me find a pitch, which was hugely appreciated after a long day on the bike. The pitch itself was nestled in the forest and, despite the campsite being really busy, it still felt private, peaceful and spacious. I believe the management has recently changed hands, and you can genuinely feel the effort that’s being put into the place. Everyone was incredibly accommodating and you can tell they’re constantly trying to improve what is already a fantastic campsite. The toilets and showers were absolutely immaculate throughout my stay. I’d happily recommend Rothiemurchus to anyone and would love to come back myself.

Well what a gem of a site 😍 if I could give it more stars I would, was welcomed with open arms by the lovely Niki on reception she was more than helpful. What a fantastic location very peaceful and well kept site (very clean) much better than the site up the road Glenmore what has gone down hill faster than the Jamaican bob slay team on cool running .. Any way if your looking for the best site in Aviemore look no further xx

We've stayed here quite a few times over the past 13 years. Our most recent visit was fantastic. The facilities were spotless and the new management team, Nicola and Jamie are lovely people who obviously have high standards.

Really lovely campsite in the forest, nice small site so very peaceful. We camped with a tentbox on one of the motorhome pitches, the manager Nicola was very friendly and helpful and even lent us a mobile power unit. The amenities block was always clean, and the showers are in individual rooms with a toilet/sink/shower and place to change which meant it felt really private. There is also an area for washing up inside with hot water. The campsite is in a lovely location to explore the Rothiemurchus area with walks from the campsite itself.
