What visitors say

This seemingly ordinary park doubles as a discreet yet poignant memorial to military personnel who died in service. It was created just after WWI using public donations. Many trees have a discreet tablet bearing the name of the person being commemorated. Seeing children play and families picnic is a moving reminder of the peace they secured.

View the historic 1927 War Memorial, explore the "Chamber of Silence," and walk among the 800+ memorial trees dedicated to fallen soldiers. And benches that are placed along the walk trail dedicated to passed away family loved ones. Family Fun & Play Areas: Children can enjoy the large, modern playground with a sandpit and, during summer, the Splash 'n' Play Park. *Tennis courts. *Mini-golf/pitch. *Putt, skate park. 1.6-mile circular walking/running fitness trail. Walk through the formal rose gardens, visit the community sensory garden, or sit by the aviary. You can also enjoy refreshments at the Park Bistro or Gelato Bar, and attend large events like the annual Godiva Festival. This park also offers a visitor center with a wall displayed of the "missing faces" of soldiers in the war. 3hours parking is free Anything over that time is payable same applies to blue badge holders. Will come back again in the summer.

Went to Inline skate and overall pretty good, up by the car park, circuit was very clean and smooth, a teeth chattering section of the at a service entrance and back to smooth. The largerly covered section of the circuit (city side by the cenotaph could do with resurfacing imo, runners, walker, cyclists would never know anything with smaller wheels here you just have to get through it as leading back to the tennis courts is back to smooth. Overall really good, plenty of space to move and not feel like youre having to dodge people.

War Memorial Park is one of those places that quietly does everything right 🌳✨ You’ve got peaceful garden areas for a calm stroll 🌿, a cool Japanese-style section that feels like a mini escape 🇯🇵🪨, and then suddenly… full-on chaos (the good kind 😄) at the playground with kids everywhere 🛝🏃‍♂️ The open space is massive 🏞️ — perfect for a run, a kickabout ⚽, or just lying on the grass pretending you’ve got your life together 😅☀️ And then there’s the big tower standing there like it’s watching over everything 👀🏛️ — adds a proper sense of history to the place. Honestly, whether you want peace, a workout, or to tire the kids out completely… this park delivers 👍🌟
