About The Salthouse Hotel
Along Dunamallaght Road on the Antrim coast, The Salthouse Hotel makes the most of its position with sea views reaching from the restaurant and lodges out over the water. Ballycastle's stretch of coastline puts the Giant's Causeway and the Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge within easy reach, making this a practical base for exploring the north coast.
Rooms are en-suite and comfortably furnished, with family and accessible options available, plus drinks in room and room service for those who'd rather not leave. Some guests have found the rates high for what's provided, though the standard of comfort and the attentiveness of staff are consistently mentioned as strong points. The restaurant serves food well regarded by visitors, including a notably good breakfast, and there's a bar, kids' meals, and packed lunches for days out. Outdoor seating, a garden and picnic area make use of the setting when the weather allows.
Free on-site parking and an electric vehicle charge point are provided, and the hotel offers concierge and VIP facilities alongside more everyday conveniences like luggage storage and free WiFi. Nearby, there's golf, fishing, watersports and a choice of pubs and restaurants, giving guests plenty to do beyond the coastal walks on the doorstep.

Beautiful hotel and location although the bedroom was small and had nowhere to put suitcases. The wardrobe door couldn't open fully as it was so close to the bedside locker. Pillows weren't great, very flat. For such a beautiful location the view from our bedroom (110, ground floor) was very disappointing. Footpaths were close to the room window with people walking past it most of the evening. Only 1 chair to sit in to read, odd for double occupancy! The ensuite bathroom was also tight in space with the door not able to open or close fully due to towels on the towel rail which is right inside the door. The shower cubicle had mould on the tile grout and shower tray mat, and was not very powerful. Leisure facilities are fabulous but not included in the price which is disappointing considering the rates to stay. Meal was nice but not outstanding. Fabulous spot, decour top class, friendly staff but could do better and definitely not good value for money. We actually went back to reception to check we had the right room as it was so small in size for a superior king-size room compared to other hotels. Disappointed 😞

This is a beautiful hotel and restaurant with phenomenal views to the north and over to Scotland. The lodge rooms are stunning and offer a bedroom with extremely comfortable beds, stunning views over the bay. The pools look incredible indoor and a separate outdoor infinity pool although I didn’t try them as they open next month. A lot of the remote units come with jacuzzis. The spas and saunas all look incredible. I will definitely try next time for a holiday trip. I had a lovely dinner there and a very nice cooked breakfast. This place is all about the attention to detail and the service staff i had the please to meet from check in to food and bar service were excellent.

There is a lot to like here but it suffers from a lack of finesse and warmth in the service it provides. Our accomodation was excellent and we found it restful but it lacked the small touches. We had two clothes hangers in our room and had to ask for more. We were out all day and returned at 4pm to find the room had not been serviced. When we queried they sent someone to provide towels but nothing else. Breakfast is fine, dinner not so much. It is expensive, food is nothing special and service unfriendly. You have to pay your bill immediately even if staying in hotel rather than departure. Use of the sauna and steam room is not included in the rate. We gave feedback but no response ever provided back in return. If you view this as accomodation with access to food and spa you will feel it is ok but if you think of it as a hotel you will be disappointed.

Everything was great! The hotel is beautiful, with lovely interior design and a stunning location. The staff were friendly, and their customer service was excellent, they were always quick to find a solution to any issue or request. The breakfasts were delicious, and we also enjoyed the spa. The only downside was that the sauna in the spa was surprisingly small, especially considering the price. Also, we arrived 20 minutes late for our spa session, and even though there was no one booked after us, we were told that the lost time could not be made up, so we only had 40 minutes instead of the full hour. Overall, we had a very positive experience and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. I would definitely recommend this hotel!
