What visitors say

I enjoyed my visit here. Some interesting items in their collection and a fairly broad range of areas the museum covers. Of course for local particularly industrial history this is THE place to visit. The only detractors I would say are that portions of the site do unfortunately feel quite abandoned almost which while for me personally I enjoyed exploring I can see how it would be off putting for others and be seen as run down.

Visit here regularly with my family, staff always friendly, lots of events to keep your interest, and of course its free! Cafe is decent too. A great day out if you are looking to chill and keep the kids interested

Interesting places well worth visiting, a short walk from the railway station. Nice picnic area, interesting displays and the getting more common feature of this type of museum, the row of cottages done up in the style of a range of generations. Didn't look at the mine, I assumed it would be one of those faked experiences, I might be wrong. Tram sheds were closed.

A great wee day out, keep the kids amused and it doesn't cost a fortune, pity the trams not running atm but apparently they're having problems getting someone to fix and maintain it.
