About Sunnysands Caravan Park

Wordsworth wasn't wrong about Barmouth's setting – mountains meeting sea with the dramatic Mawddach estuary thrown in – and Sunnysands Caravan Park makes the most of it. Fronted by miles of sandy beach and the calm waters of Cardigan Bay, this Eryri (Snowdonia) park sits beneath the peaks of Yr Wyddfa and Cadair Idris, with Barmouth's harbour, shops and fish and chip shops just 10 minutes away.

Families appreciate the range on site: indoor and outdoor pools (the indoor one open high season), a playground, bar and restaurant plus a decent arcade. The beach access is brilliantly convenient and staff are welcoming. Practicalities like launderette, shop (high season) and clean shower blocks are sorted, though prices can edge towards the expensive side – a minor grumble given the location and views that guests consistently rave about.

Overall we've just had a really nice stay at this holiday park! Our only niggles are these; the play park has seen better days - the stairs up to the slide were all loose and wobbly. Whilst my son was playing, the sales rep did actually come out and let us know that the whole play park is being replaced in 2027 with something much bigger and better - so at least they know it needs improving! The caravan was very clean (we'd seen reviews about cleanliness and was worried about this as I'm a holiday home cleaner myself) but a couple of the wall joinings in the main bedroom had come loose and been selotaped back on. Again not an issue as a whole, just 'unsightly' I suppose! The only food place open all weekend was the chippy. We brought meals with us but ended up eating in Barmouth centre a couple of times just to change it up. A medium chips was £3.75 which I think is average for a seaside resort. We loved; The entertainment for the kids was for about an hour each night, my son absolutely loved the people dressed up as animals (pictured) and all of the entertainment staff were lovely and very good with all the children. The prizes for games were actually decent, Minecraft swords and Cocomelon teddies, not just a lollipop or bag of sweets! There was only 4 adults playing bingo on the Friday night (2 of them being us) and the prize was a £20 bar voucher, then the next night there was about 15 adults playing and it was £100 cash prize, so again I think that's pretty good. The swimming pool and changing rooms were super super clean - swimming slots for families are 10-4 and 45 minute slots .eg. 10-10:45 then 11-11:45 and so on. There's also a steam room and sauna there which my husband was pleasantly surprised with! A lot of people were moaning about prices of pints etc but a Guiness was £5.75 and a draught Pepsi was £2.95 so again not extortionate but not cheap, what else would you expect from a seaside holiday resort!

4th July 2026, we have just come here for the second time this year for another 2 weeks and I’ve got to say that the site maintenance is extremely poor as where we are on the site Cader Court the roadway lights 3 to be precise the bulbs have still not been replaced as they were out in May when we were here for 2 weeks this is past any joke also I’ve just walked down to the slipway to go onto the beach and outside the ice cream and burger bar the polystyrene food cartons that had been strewn everywhere by right down and out people right by the rubbish bin is utterly disgusting, also on the concrete slipway someone had let their dog poo on there and just leave it there I have photos as evidence of what I have stated, all this turns you off wanting to come to such a dump of a holiday park. Anyone that would like to see the photos please contact me.

The site is quite nice , but my 1 star is for the chip shop on site! Seriously.. £15+ for this. The fish tasted like cat food and well the chips were stale and completely dry.Dont normally leave bad comments but I had to do this as I felt I had been totally ripped off. As a newcomer to the site I'm sure I was just 'fobbed off' with a bad meal ... well it came back to haunt.
