What guests say
A truly perfect stay at Bathen House! We spent one night here as a family and can recommend it without reservation. The service was outstanding and incredibly attentive – we felt well taken care of from the very first moment. An absolute highlight was the enormous bathtub, which promised pure relaxation and delivered exactly that. The breakfast was fantastic as well, I can especially recommend the waffles! We will definitely be back. Thank you so much for this wonderful stay!

We chose this hotel as a base for exploring the beautiful city of Bath. While it is located just outside the city centre—which suited us perfectly as we were looking for a quieter setting—it is close to the hospital, so you do occasionally hear ambulances passing with their sirens. Bath itself is easily accessible: around a 30-minute walk, a short bus ride (with a bus stop conveniently nearby), or a quick taxi journey. Our room was absolutely stunning and perfectly reflected the elegant character of the hotel. The design was exceptional, featuring both a beautifully appointed bathroom with a shower and a stylish freestanding bath in the bedroom. Every detail had been carefully considered, the finishes were of a very high standard, and the room was impeccably clean. The only drawback was the lack of air conditioning. Breakfast exceeded our expectations. While the buffet selection itself is relatively modest, offering mainly bread, pastries and yoghurt, the à la carte breakfast menu is excellent. Everything is freshly prepared to order and served remarkably quickly. Most importantly, the food is absolutely delicious. The service throughout our stay was very good, with the breakfast team in particular providing a genuinely warm and attentive welcome. There are, however, a few areas where the overall experience could be elevated even further. The Honesty Bar is a lovely concept, but in a five-star hotel I would prefer professionally prepared cocktails rather than mixing my own. It also closes fairly early at 10 pm. Our arrival could have been more personal. After travelling from Belgium for around eight hours in temperatures exceeding 35°C, we were greeted quite formally and immediately asked to complete paperwork. As we had mentioned in advance that we would be arriving in our classic car, it would have been a wonderful conversation starter and a more memorable welcome. Finally, we happened to visit during the exceptional European heatwave. Without air conditioning, the room became uncomfortably warm. While I appreciate that the weather was extraordinary, I believe the hotel could have responded more proactively—for example by stocking the fridge with complimentary chilled water, offering ice lollies, or providing small evening refreshments or cooling treats. Small gestures like these would have made a significant difference and would have reflected the level of hospitality expected from a five-star property. Overall, we had a fantastic stay and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. It is a beautiful hotel that I would happily return to. The only exception would be during very hot weather, unless the cooling situation has been improved.

Absolutely spectacular experience! From ease and friendliness of check in to the spotless, spacious comfort of the amazing room, our visit could not be more perfect. Highly, highly recommend. It is located just outside the city center, but still within walking distance or, if you prefer, bus stops right outside. We will be back! (P.S. picture is only half the room - other half is TV sitting area with lovely views of hillsides)

A beautifully furnished house. Very clean and the breakfast was wonderful. Breakfast area is so so beautiful. But what made this place truly 5 stars was the service. The most wonderful staff. When I requested for a room change (because I needed a shower head) they were amazing in helping me with that. Especially the front desk man who helped us tremendously in carrying luggage. Helped us move all our belongings to the new room, even when we were rushing for time to catch the bus. He was incredible, a real star!!
