What diners say
Great lunch at Duck and Rice once again and this time at the Battersea power station converted into a shopping mall, first time was at SoHo. We had softshell crab, wasabi prawns, xiao xiu bao, duck and rice, goji berry spinach wontons…among other dishes. All dishes were extremely well prepared and very deliciously tasty, brilliantly thought out like the wasabi prawns. The wait staff was very professional, friendly, welcoming and eager to please, you can’t go wrong at Duck and Rice, great experience at tasting infusion flavors though I wish some the dishes were created with more spiciness a nice kick. Shania, the waitress was very pleasantly happy while serving us. There are many but many places to eat, many options to choose from in London, Duck and Rice is a place we go back to every time we are in London ad long as they keep delivering delicious dishes with good quality. It’s better at Battersea location, bigger more comfortable.

This was my first time dining at Duck & Rice while visiting London. It was a Monday afternoon, so I had no problem just walking in and getting a table. The roasted duck with pancakes was great, and the portion was very generous. I actually liked how the duck was presented. Usually you only get the skin, and the rest of the meat gets sent back to the kitchen for something else, but here I got to have the duck meat in my pancake too, which was a nice touch. While we were there, the table next to us gave the staff a hard time, claiming their duck wasn't fresh. The staff handled it patiently and professionally, which isn't easy when dealing with difficult, unreasonable customers. Overall, my experience at Duck & Rice was great. My only complaint is that for £8.50, we only got 3 pieces of Xiao Long Bao, even though the illustration on the staff's t-shirt showed 4 in the cage. Very steep price... 😅

Delicious food! Had the crispy duck pancakes and it was soooo tasty!! The salt and pepper squid was perfection. The aubergine and tofu, and assam prawns were delicious. We had some cocktails and they were great as well.

We had the half roast duck, taro croquettes, venison puffs, crab and tofu claypot, glass noodle claypot, Sichuan-style chicken wings (a lunar new year special), half duck and of course the duck and rice. This was enough for 5 people. It wasn't crispy duck, but it was quite nice. The venison puff felt quite soft and not the normal texture, so we asked if it had been heated in the microwave and were told they were. We were pleased the waitress was honest and we had picked up on that correctly. However, we wouldn't pick the venison puffs again as it failed to deliver on quality. Don't know why other people praised them as you can get better at other dim sum. We should have just had classic dim sum like har gao to see how it compares to our usual Chinese restaurants in London. Overall the food was pleasant but pricey. Nothing was particularly popping. Other options that sounded ok that maybe we should have picked instead are Singapore noodles, chicken katsu curry, sweet and sour chicken and duck fried rice. We didn't try any drinks, but maybe would have had we come during happy hour cocktails. They have highchairs available. You can pay by Amex. The lion dance for Lunar New Year was outstanding!
