About Beech Estate Campsite
Deep in a 2,000-acre private beech estate near Battle, this off-grid woodland haven offers something increasingly rare: proper peace and exclusivity. With around 30 pitches scattered across forest floor and meadow clearings – each with its own firepit – you're camping among ancient trees and conservation meadowland that's yours alone to explore. Kids can build dens, spot butterflies (over 30 species recorded), and run wild without public footfall; adults will appreciate the genuine tranquillity and thoughtful facilities, from multiple water points to bucket showers and a mix of flushing and eco loos.
The location delivers too: you're in the High Weald AONB, five minutes from Battle's abbey and battlefield, 20 minutes from the coast, with mountain biking trails and country pubs within easy reach. Reviewers consistently praise the spacious pitches, spotless facilities and exceptionally helpful wardens. It's not luxury camping – there's no electricity or hot tubs – but if you're after an authentic woodland escape with firepits, starry skies and room to breathe, this ticks every box.

What visitors say
What a great place! I can't wait to return and try their other campsite as well. From the moment we arrived, we received a warm welcome. The team explained all the site rules, provided us with a map, and directed us to collect a wheelbarrow so we could transport our gear to our designated pitch. The campsite is quite large, so it took us a little while to reach our pitch, but that's actually one of its biggest strengths. The spacious layout provides plenty of privacy, peaceful surroundings in the woods, your own campfire pit, and a comfortable distance between pitches. The site is clean, well-organised, and clearly very well maintained. Another thing worth mentioning is the type of people it attracts - guests who genuinely appreciate nature and are looking for a peaceful, restorative escape. Even families with children were incredibly respectful, allowing everyone to enjoy their own space and tranquillity. The campsite has everything you need, and if you happen to forget firewood or any essentials, they've got you covered. The kitchen, bucket showers, and toilets are exceptionally well looked after and deserve special recognition. The surrounding area is fantastic for long walks, mostly through beautiful woodland trails that are clearly marked and easy to follow. This is a wonderful place to reconnect with nature, slow down, and reset. Huge thanks to the team for creating such a special experience,we will definitely be back! 🫶🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Brilliant campsite with good facilities. Toilets, showers, sinks were all clean. Lots of drinking water taps around the site. And great staff. We used a tentsile tent in the hammock area. The space was OK for it, but definitely more suitable for hammocks than tree tents. Hopefully, spots will be made available for tree tents in the future!

One of the best family camping experiences. facilities are clean and well maintained. pitches are private and well spaced. staff friendly and helpful. lots to do in the area. patchy phone and internet signal is great if you want to shut away from the world.
