About Clayton Hotel Belfast
Ormeau Avenue sits right in the middle of Belfast, close to the shops of Castle Court and within easy reach of the city's bars and restaurants, which is where Clayton Hotel Belfast makes its home. With 170 rooms, it's a sizeable base for exploring the city centre on foot, whether that's a shopping trip or an evening out.
Rooms come with en-suite bathrooms, air conditioning and drinks on request, with family and accessible rooms also available. That said, some rooms have been reported as not always well kept, so it's worth bearing in mind alongside the hotel's other strengths. Downstairs there's a restaurant serving a well-regarded breakfast with plenty of choice, plus a bar, and kids' meals are catered for too.
Guests get use of an indoor swimming pool, gym and spa/sauna, useful after a day of sightseeing or meetings held in the on-site business and meeting facilities. Staff are consistently described as friendly and helpful, and the central location means pubs, restaurants and entertainment are all within easy walking distance, with a golf course also nearby for those wanting to venture a little further.
What guests say
The room was reasonably clean, but some areas were worn out and had peeling paint. There was occasionally an unpleasant sewage smell coming from the bathroom. The room did not have a refrigerator, and our room had an unusually small window. It was also located right next to the elevator, and the soundproofing was only average. The most disappointing issue was the unstable hot water supply for two consecutive nights. At times, there was no hot water at all. On the first night, we were told that it was a hotel-wide problem and that the maintenance staff would not be available until 7:00 a.m. the next morning. However, the problem was still not resolved on the second day, which made me suspect that the issue was actually with the hot water system in our room. The reception staff were not welcoming. They did not smile, make eye contact, or greet guests. The only real advantage of this hotel is its convenient location. It is close to the city centre and right next to City Hall.

Reception staff were Good. Room Was Good, but slightly dated, Restaurant was good. Hotel close to all you need. Only downside was the room safe did not work, it was reported numerous times but not fixed in the 4 days we were there. Room was often made up short, for 2 people instead of 3 but items remedied /replaced by reception as soon as mentioned.

I took a basic room - no frills but it was clean and had what I needed - carpet could use a good deep cleaning or refresh. Staff and bugger at the restaurant were amazing, breakfast buffet ok, but like most buffets, cool eggs, dried out ham. Location is good, easy to walk to many great areas, City Hall, Grand Opera House, many pubs and restaurants.

This is the first time we’ve stayed here and won’t be our last it was exactly what we needed. The staff are really friendly, excellent location was ten minutes walking from anywhere we needed to go, food was brilliant. We only had breakfast here but it was very good quality and piping hot. The house keeping need a mention too as our room was clean, tidy and refreshed daily and they were super friendly in the corridor despite working super hard. Would highly recommend and was the best value for money compared to other hotels so definitely worth staying here
