About Ibis Birmingham Centre New Street Station

Birmingham's city centre is easy to reach on foot from the Arcadian Centre, where Ibis Birmingham Centre New Street Station sits close to New Street Station and Chinatown. With 159 rooms spread across four floors, it's built for practicality rather than flourish, and its position puts shops, restaurants and transport links within easy walking distance.

Rooms are en-suite, with family and accessible options available, plus drinks available in-room for convenience. Some of the décor shows its age, but the rooms are kept clean and comfortable. A restaurant and bar operate on site, alongside a snack bar, breakfast service and packed lunches for those heading out early. Guests travelling with pets are welcome, and there's laundry service, luggage storage and meeting rooms for business visitors.

Staff are consistently noted for being friendly and going out of their way to help, which combined with the fair pricing makes this a solid base for exploring the city. Nearby you'll find pubs, bars and further restaurants, and on-site parking is available for a charge. It's a hotel that keeps things simple and does the basics well.

I have stayed at the Ibis Birmingham New Street, in the Chinese Quarter, a number of times and return because of the friendly, professional service. Purina and her colleague on reception were always friendly and willing to assist. Raju and his colleagues at breakfast were friendly and helpful. The location is good as it’s only a few minutes walk from New Street Grand Central, to the Birmingham markets, the Bullring, Back to Basics, the Museum and the Hippodrome. There are many restaurants in the immediate neighbourhood. The hospitality tray in the room is useful and the free filtered water at bar was very welcome. The room and bathroom were clean but could do with being renewed as the flooring is showing its age and a better blackout curtain would save me from using a eye mask but that doesn’t detract from my overall experience.

The hotel may not have been the newest or fanciest place on earth. The rooms were a bit worn and definitely had some stories to tell, but everything was functional and did the job. But honestly? The real 5-star experience was Ingrid. Absolute legend. So kind, caring, and genuinely lovely that she could probably improve the atmosphere of any building by at least 73%. She made us feel welcome, looked after, and somehow turned the whole stay into a warm and funny experience. Would I come back to be greeted by Ingrid again? Immediately.

The Ibis Birmingham New Street was lovely to stay in, I had a mix of 1 night staying with my work and also 1 night as a personal stay. It is a lovely hotel, with it being in a central location in Birmingham. It is right in the heart of china town and is roughly a 5 minute walk from all the shops. I thoroughly enjoyed the service and everybody was so friendly and approachable. Ingrid, our staff member at the breakfast was really lovely and she had a nice chat to us while we were having our breakfast. Loved the fact that there was a pool table in the hotel and I loved the conference room where we had our work training in on the Wednesday. Considering there were a fair few conferences happening when we were staying, the hotel was actually quiet when you got up to all the rooms. My room was a little small but perfect for what I needed, the bed was very comfy and I managed to sleep all night on both nights.
