About Travelodge Birmingham Fort Dunlop
The Fort Shopping Park and Star City entertainment complex are both close by, making Travelodge Birmingham Fort Dunlop a practical base whether you're heading out to shop or catch a film and a bite to eat. The hotel sits right off the M6 at Junction 5, with the A38 also close at hand, so it works well for anyone passing through or exploring further into Birmingham by car.
The hotel occupies the well-known Fort Dunlop building and spans eleven floors, with 99 rooms that guests generally find generously sized, along with en-suite bathrooms and accessible options available. Staff are consistently described as friendly and helpful. That said, some rooms have been reported as tired in places and missing a few basic extras, so it's worth keeping expectations realistic on the finer details.
On site there's a restaurant and bar, along with breakfast service, drinks available in the room, and an electric vehicle charging point. Parking is free and secure, with a token given at entry so guests can leave without charge. Pets are welcome, and there are further pubs, bars and restaurants nearby for evenings out beyond the hotel itself.

What guests say
I stayed at this hotel for one night during a business trip. Overall, the hotel is quite basic, which is probably why it's reasonably priced. The room, bed linen, and bathroom were all very clean. The environment was also quiet and comfortable, apart from the occasional aircraft flying overhead during the day. The room included tea and coffee-making facilities with coffee pods and tea bags, which was a nice touch. However, there was no mini fridge or complimentary bottled water. Also, remember to bring your own toothbrush and toothpaste, as these are not provided. The reception staff were friendly, professional, and welcoming. The hotel café is also fairly basic. The food menu is quite limited, and it only serves meals from the afternoon until 10:00 pm. Breakfast costs £10.85, and while it's an unlimited buffet, the selection is fairly simple. I found the café staff to be average in terms of customer service. They weren't unfriendly, but there wasn't much attention to detail. For example, although the café was small and there was only one other customer at the time, my order was mixed up and I was initially served someone else's meal. The staff apologised and quickly brought me the correct dish. Overall, I'd recommend this hotel if you're looking for an affordable place to stay with clean rooms and basic facilities. However, I would suggest eating in the city rather than at the hotel café if you're looking for a better dining experience.

Budget hotel or not, cleanliness and basic hospitality should not be optional. The carpets were filthy, the windows were so dirty they obscured the view (as seen in photo) and the entire hotel felt tired and poorly maintained. Staff seemed completely disengaged and gave the impression that guests were an inconvenience. To make matters worse, breakfast is an additional charge despite the poor overall standard of the hotel, also the breakfast is inedible. This was one of the most disappointing hotel stays I’ve had. I left feeling that very little care is taken in maintaining the property (cigarette butts scattered everywhere upon entrance) I cannot recommend it.

Hotel was very nice and clean. Staff were friendly and helpful. Parking was also easy, either at the little one or scanning the ticket at reception for the big one.

Not a great hotel, very dirty carpets, soap dispensers in bathroom not working and staff after 3 requests did not even come to check or provide soap in container or bottle. Morning shower water very cold. Only good thing was the location and being close to M6
