About Travelodge Birmingham Frankley M5 Southbound

For anyone breaking up a long drive on the M5, Travelodge Birmingham Frankley M5 Southbound offers a straightforward place to stop overnight without leaving the motorway network. It suits drivers heading to or from the M42 interchange, visitors bound for Cadbury World, or those passing through Halesowen and the wider Birmingham area who just need a bed and free parking rather than a destination in itself.

The hotel has 62 rooms across two floors, all with en-suite bathrooms, and accessible rooms are available. Rooms tend to be reliably comfortable and quieter than the location might suggest, though some are more dated than others and standards can vary. There's a restaurant on site serving breakfast, plus drinks available in the room, and a Costa Coffee and other eateries nearby for more choice. An electric vehicle charge point and 24 hour reception add practical convenience for travellers arriving at odd hours, and pets are welcome.

Parking is free on-site, allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, which suits the stop-and-go nature of a service station stay. It's a functional base rather than a place to linger, best suited to travellers prioritising a convenient break in the journey over polish.

Disappointing stay – room cleanliness, smoke smell and missing breakfast I was really disappointed with my stay at this hotel. When I entered the room, there was a strong smell of dog, and there were dog hairs on the floor, which made the room feel unclean and uncomfortable. This is not what I expected when paying for a hotel room. I had also paid for breakfast, but I could not find where it was being served. There was nobody at reception to ask for help, and as we were on a tight schedule, we had to leave without having the breakfast we had paid for. The building itself also smelled strongly of smoke. Staff and residents appeared to be using the walkway into the hotel as a smoking area, meaning guests had to walk through cigarette smoke just to get inside. This was very unpleasant. Overall, the room did not feel properly cleaned, the service was lacking, and the smell of smoke around the building made the stay even worse. I would expect better standards from a hotel, especially when paying for extras such as breakfast.

Stayed here twice now and both times ot's been amazing. Staff really helpful, rooms very clean and tidy and the staff vacant do enough to help. It was really busy the second time but we were amazed how quiet it is while in there, you wouldn't think tou were by the motorway or less than 20 minutes from the City centre. Great place to stop if your travelling or to get into Birmingham.

It's all relative but for £38 it was great value, the bed was very comfortable, amenities were basic. I had a room facing the motorway, the noise was not intrusive, and it didn't bother me and I had the window open all night. The hotel was quiet and there was little disturbance from other residents. The receptionist was helpful and friendly. I would stay here again for a stopover.

Wow, an amazing experience! The room was spotless, you could see you face in the taps on both the sink and bath/shower. This was a disabled room and there was plenty of space, a good sized bed, two comfortable chairs and we had a great night's sleep. I'd like to thank the domestic staff that keep these rooms so clean. I really hope that they get recognition for their hard work. I'd highly recommend this Travelodge.
