About Travelodge Birmingham Maypole

Maypole Lane sits just off the A435, one of the main roads feeding into Birmingham, which makes Travelodge Birmingham Maypole a practical base for reaching both the city centre and Solihull without fuss. The surrounding area is more suburban than scenic, but the road links mean you're never far from wherever you actually need to be.

The hotel has 60 rooms spread across three floors, served by a lift, with en-suite bathrooms, drinks available in the room, and accessible rooms for those who need them. Beds are a particular strength, and the cooked breakfast option in the on-site restaurant is worth setting time aside for. Some rooms show signs of wear, and service can be inconsistent, though staff are generally friendly when things go right.

There's free on-site parking at the rear, allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, plus an electric vehicle charge point for those who need it. A Starbucks is nearby, along with a pub and further restaurants for evenings when you don't fancy the hotel's own kitchen. Pets are welcome, and reception is staffed around the clock for early starts or late arrivals.

We booked 6 rooms for an event nearby. Each room was spotless and the beds were really comfortable. Although there was a slight issue with one room not having been made up properly (no duvets) it was rectified quickly and the room was changed to a much bigger room so they were more than happy. The staff were really helpful, particularly the chap that checked us in. He even let us borrow his laptop to watch the football on sky sports (Although it would be lovely if sports channels were available in the hotel anyway, even if just in the bar area). Amazing service - thank you. The breakfast was also great. The typical fare of toasts and pastries, cereals, fruit, yoghurt and a cooked breakfast, but the items that had been cooked were absolutely delicious. Well worth the £10.95 a head. As far as travelodges go, it was one of the more comfortable ones I have stayed in. My room was at the front of the hotel overlooking the road and I wasn't bothered at all by the road noise. Those at the back of the hotel said it was really quiet. We were also very pleased to have free parking on site. Would definitely stay there again.

I booked a one-night stay as we didn’t want to rush back home, but unfortunately, it was a horrible experience. The shower had mold and was filthy, and the whole place made me feel so uncomfortable that I didn’t want to touch anything. We went straight back to reception to explain the situation. The lady there was very kind—I don’t blame her at all, as it’s the condition of the place rather than the staff. She immediately moved us to another room, which was better than the first one, at least as it didn’t have mold. However, the restaurant, bar, and reception are all in the same area, and it didn’t look clean either. I felt very uneasy staying at this hotel with my family. I’m quite sensitive due to a low immune system, and I was genuinely worried about getting sick because of the lack of cleanliness. I had paid for breakfast when I made the booking, but I asked for a refund because I didn’t feel comfortable eating there. Unfortunately, their policy is not to refund breakfast even if you don’t use it. I would recommend not paying for breakfast in advance until you’ve seen the place for yourself. If your budget is really tight, I understand why someone might stay here. But if you have a family, I strongly recommend trying to avoid this hotel. We booked here because it was close to the area we were visiting, but I learned my lesson—it’s better to go a bit farther for better conditions than stay somewhere unsafe or unhygienic.

We arrived late at night, already exhausted from travel with 2 young children (1 and 3), while im 6 months pregnant. The receptionist was neither helpful nor welcoming. He made me stand at the door interogating me through a speaker, although it was just me and my sleeping 1 year old, posing no threat, before he allowed us in after 5 minutes. It was cold, wet and dark and we already had a confirmed booking. When my husband came to the door with our sleeping 3 year old daughter, he refused to open the door and made me walk over to the door to open it myself. The female receptionist in the morning was much more friendly and check out was easy. Beds were nice, as per the Travelodges signature beds. We booked a family room. The room was worn and some areas could be cleaned better. Bathroom did not have a lock.

We booked in advance to have 2 travel cots in the family room. When we arrived very late at night, there were no travel cots and I had 2 sleeping babies with no where to put them. The staff tried to bring cots for us, but could only find 1, so we ended up having to sleep a baby on a bed with no sides etc. Not very safe at all! The 1 travel cot we were provided had no mattress, just the hard board at the bottom- not fit for a baby to sleep on! Not acceptable at all.
