About The Green Caravan Park

If your kids have never played Pooh Sticks, a stay at The Green Caravan Park is the place to teach them. The small, shallow River East Onny runs right through this 15-acre site in the Shropshire Hills National Landscape, perfect for paddling, pond dipping and fishing – pick up a cheap net at the site shop and keep little ones entertained for hours. Pitches are spread across several spots: some riverside, others on the park island, in two dingles, on The Plateau or across a five-acre meadow, with electric hardstanding options in a separate field. Campers love the spacious pitches and exceptionally clean, well-maintained facilities, plus the peaceful, relaxed vibe.

There's a play area, a nature wilderness for wildlife spotting and plenty of space for bikes and outdoor games. Dogs get their own exercise area, and the family-friendly Inn on the Green serves home-cooked food directly accessible from the park (book ahead). Nestled between the Long Mynd and Stiperstones Hills, it's no wonder previous visitors have called this place 'a little gem'.

We stayed the weekend after May bank holiday weekend, so it was much quieter than at most popular times. We stayed Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights. There are seasonal and permanent pitches on the site, so Saturday was bussier than the other nights and Sunday night there were only a small handfull of people there. The owners Rachael & John are very friendly and helpfull, and on arrival we were given the do's & don'ts, told where everything we needed was located, then offered a selection of pitches to choose from. We chose a grass pitch with hookup close to the water supply, the toilet & shower block, and the grey waste and elsan disposal point. Our pitch backed on to the River East Onny and was very peaceful with plenty of birds, and young squirells livening the site up a bit. The dog walk along the river was lovely and there is a public footpath that passes through the site. Saturday lunchtime a mobile coffee & cake van arrived that also sold savories like sausage rolls, scotch eggs, etc. and Saturday evening a wood fired pizza van arrived which was very reasonably priced and made extremely tasty pizzas. Only downside is that stuck in the valley surrounded by hills on most sides means radio signal was virtually non existent, and we didn't try to set up the TV, as it isn't worth the effort for a long weekend. There is a good pub that does food less than 50yds from the site with direct foot access, and a small well stocked village store no more than 200 yds from the site entrance. We had our two 20 something daughters and a dog with us, but there are play areas and facilities for children too. We will absolutely be going back for another stay before too long.

We had such an amazing time camping here yet again! We stayed as a small family group on Rally Field and it was ideal! Secluded, by the small river and plenty of room for the kids to run around. The facilities on site are great, but we missed the pizza truck as they were only there on Friday and they looked delicious. The staff are wonderful and the upgraded changes were excellent- especially the park. This is a great place for campers, caravans and tents alike.

I’ve been going to the Green for 25 years and it’s a great place to camp. Well kept with good facilities and a pub with great food only a 3 minute walk. Lots of things to do in the area. It’s a must go.

I called The Green Caravan Park on Easter Sunday morning hoping for a last minute pitch. Rachael was amazing at getting us booked in and we arrived at the site 45 minutes later. From the moment we arrived, Rachael and John were so friendly and accommodating, letting us have a choice of pitches and showing us where the site amenities were. The site was very busy but it had a lovely and relaxed atmosphere. We chose a new Super Hardstanding pitch on the Onny Bank area of the site, with its own electric and tap for £35 per night (2 adults) and it backs onto the river. John came to check on us around 15 minutes to make sure we were happy with the pitch and getting settled in okay. Toilets, showers and washing up area were incredibly clean and the water was lovely and hot with a constant flow in the shower - no push buttons!!! Rachael recommended the Adstone Walk to us - we walked about an hour through the hills to The Bridges Inn at Bridge - great pub!! Even though the site was busy, we heard no noise at all whilst sleeping and all other campers were very respectful of eachother - I think that’s because John and Rachael set the right tone as soon as you arrive 😁 This campsite is great for families and couples alike, and I would also feel perfectly at home here on a solo trip.
