About Shaftesbury Hotel
Shaftesbury Hotel suits travellers after a straightforward, no-fuss base near Blackpool's seafront rather than a lavish stay. It works well for families, golfers, anglers or anyone visiting on a budget, with free on-site parking taking the hassle out of driving up for the weekend.
Rooms are en-suite and include family options, with drinks available in the room and breakfast served each morning. Practical extras cover free WiFi, a laundry service, a guest kitchen, meeting rooms and 24-hour reception, so the basics are well looked after even if the style is simple rather than smart.
The North Shore location puts pubs, restaurants and entertainment within easy reach, along with walking and cycling routes, watersports and a nearby golf course. It's a sensible pick for guests who want to be close to Blackpool's attractions without paying for extras they won't use.

What guests say
We came here on Easter weekend and Paul was very welcoming, friendly and made us feel at home as soon as we arrived. Location is decent, about 30/40 minutes away from the piers but only about a minute walk from the main promenade and the sea and has a tram stop as soon as you come onto the main road. We did however get a bit lost trying to find the hotel as there was no sign outside and we assumed it was a regular house. So maybe an outside sign may help others in future find the hotel more easily. The rooms were near enough spotless, only thing that let it down was that there was a bit of a smell in the en-suite bathroom in room 2 that we were staying in. May need a bit of drain cleaner down it to get rid of the odour, but other than that, the facilities were great, the kitchen had nearly everything you needed for self catering. A spaghetti strainer or a sieve or colander would have been helpful for draining pasta. But I suppose it is quite situational so it’s not a big issue. Breakfast was delicious both days we were there and the lady who served us (I can’t remember her name, ever so sorry) was very attentive, chatty and couldn’t do enough to ensure our breakfast experience was enjoyable. Tables were a bit small to fit everything on at times but the fact that the dining area was small itself, there wasn’t much more that could be done. Perhaps invest in another high chair or 2 in case multiple guests with small children are dining at the same time as we had to wait on others before we could use it. Overall, the hotel is extremely good value for money if you’re on a budget. It’s a small business who know how to run the hotel really well. The few minor issues weren’t really enough to warrant marking down any less than a 4* review, as they didn’t make our stay any less enjoyable. These can easily be rectified and sorted and we hope that it’s seen as some constructive criticism :) We really enjoyed our stay here and hope to come back soon.

Myself and my family booked in to this hotel for one night and I had read various reviews so am always aware there maybe issues or concerns, however I couldn’t fault our host or his hotel unless I was grabbing at minimal loose threads to pick at. The communication and care taken to make sure our stay was perfect went above and beyond. Paul is an amazing host who’s attention to detail from the room to condiments needed for your breakfast truly shows he wanted us to enjoy our stay and we did. The room and en-suite was spotless and the free parking an added bonus. We will be returning and think we have found our go to hotel for our future trips. Thank you Paul from all of us.

Very clean room, everything worked, was quiet and right near the tram stop. Definitely will be staying here again as we were made to feel very welcome and at home.
