Windows didn't shut so constantly open allowing all creatures great and small in, along with the noise from outside. The wallpaper was falling off, showing the mold and damp underneath. There's a damp patch in the bathroom from a leak upstairs. The room hadn't been cleaned, you could tell from the amount of dust on the cups amd skirting boards along with the items left under the bed. Also water left in the kettle. The chair in the bathroom was pulled apart and the picture was on the floor. The towel rail fell off the wall if you put a towel on it. There's also no built in heating so you have to use the plug in one with no instructions. I did ask for a different room within 10mins as i was staying with my child and it wasn't appropriate but was told there wasn't any despite seeing them available on booking.com, I also left the same review there.

Booked a room for an afternoon recharge before heading home in the evening. Room adequate for £39 and was as expected for the rate. The check-in was fast & pleasant, and room six was clean. The TV remote didn't work, but I'm sure if we'd checked with reception, they could have changed the batteries had we been really bothered. The bedroom furniture was modern and matching. The bathroom decor and fixtures were clean but showed their age. I'm a bit of a mattress-snob, and although the bed was nothing like my own, there can be no complaints as I expected springs in my back for the rate paid - and was pleasantly surprised that everything was comfortable. All clean, too. There were only three thin pillows on the bed through between two of us, with no spares, which meant one of us putting the towels underneath to get the required height. With us checking out without an official sleepover or using the shower, I can not comment on the water pressure, or if any neighbourly disturbances happened, or how the breakfast was, which was included but not taken. Although still very much budget - It is an old hotel, and there are far worse establishments in town. This hotel clearly does the best with what it has to work with, and it's clear the staff have pride in the place.

Shocking customer service. We arrived with 3 rooms booked. Bloke on the desk said they cancelled the rooms a week prior to arrival but the money was taken 3days before arrival.. No apologies just sat there looking at us like we were from another planet. Druggies were in and out the reception area, so it was a blessing we didn’t stay. Luckily the hotel we usually stay annually came through for us and gave us rooms. From the reviews this seems to be a common problem with this hotel. Booking, taking your money and cancelling and reluctantly wanting give you a refund. AVOIDD!!!!!!

Beds are broken and ripped with holes in them. Checked for any left over belongings under the beds. Well I don't think this has ever seen a clean in a good while. Toilet roll holder hanging by a thread. The smell of the rooms disgusting. Breakfast well in every room going on a different day. Entrance room, downstairs on ground floor difficult to access with children. Staff setting breakfast up whilst guests sat waiting. Very disappointed for the money paid. We paid £178 for 2 nights! We could have stayed in a Premier Inn for the same price or cheaper. The rooms were disgusting, parts broken and the smells are awful. We stayed with two young children and even they made comments on how dirty it was and why the beds were broken. The only saving grace was the staff are polite and friendly.
