About The Avari Hotel
The Avari Hotel is a modest, terraced townhouse property converted into an 18-room hotel on Reads Avenue, close to Blackpool Tower and the town's coastal attractions. It's a straightforward, no-frills base rather than a grand address, with a bar, a games room and 24 hour reception among its facilities.
Rooms are en-suite, with family rooms available and drinks provided in-room, and staff are known for being genuinely welcoming, with comfortable beds and reliably hot showers. That said, some rooms show their age, and damp has been an issue in parts of the building, so this is a budget stay rather than a polished one. Free WiFi and luggage storage are provided, and parking is available for those driving in.
The surrounding area suits an active or family break, with golf, fishing, cycling and walking routes nearby, plus watersports, pubs, restaurants and entertainment within easy reach. It's a practical choice for exploring Blackpool without paying for extras you won't use.
What guests say
Booked via bookings.com. With certainty I can honestly say this ties first place with another AWFUL hotel we stayed in - the Royal Windsor Hotel, also in Blackpool. Nobody comes to a Blackpool hotel expecting the Ritz Carlton, but what we were greeted with was less "hotel" and more "bail hostel". The bed - we looked with envious eyes at the people sleeping in doorways. Nice touches such as a kettle and drinks were nice - as long as you enjoy black coffee with no sugar. The TV - intermittant problem with the electronics. The wardrobe was damaged. The bathroom door had a dent caused by a hole. The handle was also hanging off and there was no way to lock the door. There used to be, but this had obviously long ceased to function. There was also mold in the shower. Parking - it is available at a reasonable cost of £10 per night I understand, and sympathise with, the new owners having taken on a nightmare abd my understanding is that they have started to improve rooms for guests, but surely it would be a good idea to stop assigning people the bail hostel rooms? The decor - peeling wall paper indicating an underlying damp issue. It hasn't seen a lick of paint since the mid 70s. My advice l? Stop renting out the nasty rooms. There is no way in the world the owners are not made aware of how awful THEIR rooms are. It is your hotel - own it. For the price, we expect something comfortable. Beware the booking.com/hotel.com photos - those rooms are not the ones you will be booking.

Very dated and dirty. The bar is no longer in use but we were told we could bring our own beer in. The room stank of cig smoke and we don't smoke ourselves. The room was dirty especially when we moved the bed away from the damp mould patch on the wall and there was dirty socks and sweet wrappers on the floor. There was damp patches on the ceiling and we woke up to drops of water actually on the plug in the socket. When we told the owners they didn't seem to bothered just like they already new it was like that. Absolute shambles of a place.

A 5 star experience at the Avari Hotel……. If you’re a mushroom. If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to live inside a damp cave while bathing in a petri dish, look no further this Blackpool “hotel” has it all! The bedroom came with a luxury water feature a leaky ceiling dripping directly onto the bed for that authentic swamp feel. The wall even has its own patch of decorative mould art. I hear it’s very “avant-garde” and possibly alive. The shower? Oh, where do I start… Imagine a horror movie set, then add more black mould. The silicone is peeling away like it’s trying to escape, and the corners are home to a thriving ecosystem. Honestly, David Attenborough could do a documentary in there. Housekeeping clearly believes in the “leave it long enough and it’ll become vintage” cleaning method. I left feeling dirtier than when I arrived and I didn’t even dare use the shower. If your dream holiday involves damp bedding, toxic fungi, and a bathroom straight out of The Last of Us, congratulations you’ve found paradise! Verdict: Come for the mould, stay for the spores
