About The Bridge of Cally Hotel
Where the road crosses the river at Bridge of Cally, this stretch of Perthshire countryside is what sets the scene for The Bridge of Cally Hotel. The surrounding hills and riverside paths give guests somewhere to walk off breakfast or wind down after a day exploring, with Blairgowrie and the wider Perth and Kinross countryside within easy reach.
The hotel has 18 rooms, kept clean and comfortable, and there's a restaurant and bar on site serving dishes such as fish and chips alongside a full Scottish breakfast. Evening menus can be on the shorter side, but the food that is served is well regarded. A garden, free WiFi, air conditioning and free on-site parking add to the practical comforts, and the hotel also handles weddings and small meetings, with porter and concierge services on hand. Pets are welcome too.
Staff are consistently described as friendly and happy to help guests make the most of their stay. With riverside walks starting right outside and Elcho Castle and Dunkeld and Birnam within reach for a day out, it's a straightforward base for exploring this part of Scotland.

My dad and his friend stayed here last night and asked me to do a review, as they are in their 80s. My dad's friend owned a well known hotel back in NI. They both RAVED about this place. Rooms were lovely and really extremely well priced, the food apparently was excellent (my dad's friend complimented the chef, and if you knew him, you'd know that was like seeing a unicorn) and they both thoroughly recommended it (again, I haven't been but if the 2 of them are unreservedly recommending it, it must be good!)

Stayed here for business travel and had a series of issues that were never properly addressed. The listing stated American Express was accepted, which I specifically relied on as my primary business card. When it came to paying for dinner, my Amex was declined outright, with no attempt made to process it. As the hotel operates a cashless policy, I had no fallback and had to use a personal card instead. My original room had a bat in the bathroom, not flying, but grounded and moving slowly in the bathtub. I was moved to a second room, where I then found visible staining on the mattress protector, which had to be replaced. Room changes and replacement bedding were eventually provided, but at no point during my stay, in a follow-up phone call to head office, or since, has anyone from the hotel acknowledged these issues or offered an apology. When I raised the payment problem on the phone, it was blamed on Booking.com, and the room issues were essentially framed as something to expect when staying in the Scottish countryside. I submitted a formal complaint over a week ago and have not received any response at all. Individually, any one of these might be forgivable. Together, with zero acknowledgement or ownership shown at any stage, it made for a genuinely disappointing stay. Edit: I submitted a formal written complaint to the hotel over a week before posting this review and received no response. Within hours of this review going live, the hotel replied publicly disputing several points, which I'd like to address for clarity. Amex was listed under House Rules as an accepted payment method at this property at the time of booking, and was removed swiftly, within days of my complaint. My windows were closed as I went for dinner shortly after check in, so the claim that the bat entered through an open window is incorrect. I'd also note that the personal characterisation of my conduct in their reply is disputed and unsubstantiated. It's also worth noting that if my conduct had genuinely been as described, the hotel had every ability to end my stay at the time, they did not. Instead I was moved rooms and given replacement bedding without any indication there was an issue with my behaviour. This characterisation only appeared a week later, in public, once a review was posted.

A reasonably priced hotel, we booked at the last minute as we had a change of plans so from that point of view it was convenient. The rooms were adequate with pretty much everything you needed for a one night stay although in the two rooms we had both the loo seats were loose. Having spent the previous week aboard a yacht the piping hot bath was welcome. The dining room is pleasantly decorated and the chairs remarkably comfortable although sadly the quality of the food didn't encourage you to stay longer. We had probably the worst meal we've had for a number of years. Badly thought out, poor ingredients and poorly prepared bearing little relationship to the descriptions. That was dinner and breakfast was pretty much as bad.

Excellent, food… Spot on, just what we needed after a long day skiing. Kids portions were ample and the venison delicious! Brilliant games room with pool table. Friendly welcoming staff. Definitely on the save it for future list! Thanks team.
