About St Leonards Farm Caravan and Camping Park

Run by the same family since 1945, St Leonards Farm Park occupies former farmland on the edge of West Moors, roughly seven miles north of Bournemouth. That continuity shows in the upkeep: pitches for tourers, motorhomes and tents spread across open grass and hardstanding, most with electric hook-up, plus a handful of bell tents and shepherd huts for those travelling light. The layout feels unpretentious and spacious, with a children's play area, soft play, and a dedicated dog park adding family-friendly touches. AA four-star accreditation reflects its long-standing reputation among regular visitors.

The location works well if you want to split time between coast and countryside—Bournemouth's beaches and the New Forest both lie within easy reach. Quiet lanes around West Moors suit gentle cycling and walking, and the site keeps a holiday-only policy, so no commercial vehicles or working from pitch. Some reviews note that facilities, while clean and functional, can feel a touch dated in places, but the welcome is warm and the atmosphere stays firmly geared towards leisure.

What visitors say

Mark Alexander

We visited here in June with our Motorhome on a hard standing pitch. We have visited many UK and European sites, ranging from 5 star down to 2 star and I think this site is a fair 3 star. We chose this site as it was local for visiting friends one evening and the price seemed quite good. First impressions of the site were not good, reception reminded me of a late night taxi reception, not the most welcoming, with many signs saying what your not allowed to do and talking through a hatch didnt seem very friendly. The pitch was OK but quite close together, the grounds were clean and tidy and found it quiet. The shower / toilet facilities do need a refresh, shower cubicle is small but OK unfortunately a fair bit of mold around the edges and all stating to look a bit tired. The most disappointing thing was the price of £9 per night to take my car, we don't normally take a car but needed it this time for a family visit. So the price per night was now more than I would pay for a far better site a couple of miles away. The thing I really struggled with was a caravan plus car doesn't pay for the car, yet a Motorhome plus car pays £9 per night more. The caravan next to us had a far bigger foot print than our motorhome and seemed strange we were paying £9 per night more than they were. Also in the same field a camper van towing a small caravan is not charged for the tow vehicle. I understand if our car contained extra people, as your using the facilities, but it was just my wife and I in both, so no logic to me. I did see the info saying about the charge for an extra car, but to me this is not an extra car. So even if you are towing a small car its £9 extra per night, but what is the difference between a motorhome towing a car or a car towing a caravan. Unfortunately due to this we will not return, which is a shame because the site does have potential and could easily be a 4 star with minimal spend. The 3 star is based on the site, not the car charge and I try to be honest in reviews but this is just our thoughts.

Lovely campsite with all amenities nearby. They even had a burger van stop on the site so there was no need to venture elsewhere for lunch. Negative: the men’s showers were so hot I physically couldn’t get in so I had to use the basin to wash what I could. Aside from that, really good.

Really great campsite. Good price for everything included. Park for the kids, indoor play barn, fields for football and dog walking. Even allow you to walk around the farm and meet the animals. The only thing that let's them down is the showers. There is no water pressure what so ever and you have to press the button every ten seconds!
