About Bournemouth Highcliff Marriott Hotel
Bournemouth Highcliff Marriott Hotel works well for families after space and facilities, and for couples wanting a coastal base with a bit of polish. With 160 rooms across four floors, many looking out to sea, there's enough room to spread out, and the hotel leans into its setting with a garden, picnic area and outdoor seating alongside an outdoor swimming pool.
Rooms are en-suite with air conditioning, family and accessible options available, and drinks and room service on hand for those who'd rather not leave. Breakfast covers a broad spread of hot and cold choices, and there's a restaurant, bar and snack bar for the rest of the day, plus a gym for anyone keeping up a routine on holiday. Staff are attentive and professional, though service can slow down at busier times, so it's worth building in a little patience.
Beyond the hotel, the area suits walkers and cyclists, with golf and fishing nearby for those wanting a change of pace, and pubs and restaurants within easy reach for evenings out. On-site parking is available for a charge, and pets are welcome, making it a straightforward choice for a coastal break with the dog in tow.
What guests say
We had a wonderful stay here. The rooms were spacious, clean, and very comfortable, with all the amenities needed for a relaxing stay. Everything was thoughtfully arranged, which made the experience feel even more enjoyable and convenient. One of the best parts about this place was the location — being so close to the beach made it perfect for peaceful morning walks and beautiful sunset views without having to travel far at all. The atmosphere around the property was calm and refreshing, making it an ideal getaway spot. The food was also excellent, but the highlight for me was definitely the crème brûlée. It was easily one of the best I’ve ever had — perfectly creamy with a beautifully caramelised top. A memorable dessert to end the evenings with. Overall, it was a lovely experience with great comfort, amazing location, and delicious food.

We were delighted to receive a complimentary upgrade to a suite in a separate wing, which made our stay extra special. The room was spacious, beautifully decorated, and the bed was very comfortable. Both breakfast and dinner were excellent, and the food throughout our stay was really enjoyable. Overall, the service was warm and welcoming, and we appreciated the hospitality. That said, the hotel itself is a little dated and could benefit from more attention to detail and general upkeep in some areas. We also noticed that used room service trays and food were sometimes left in the corridors for one or two days, which affected the overall impression and should be cleared more promptly. Despite these points, we still had a very pleasant experience and enjoyed our stay overall, especially the suite upgrade and the quality of the food. With a bit more attention to cleanliness and maintenance, this could be an outstanding hotel.

We had a short 1 night stay here and I must say it was very nice. We had connecting rooms which is what I requested before we arrived and they were able to make it happen. The hotel is quite old but I guess you can say that’s a part of the hotels charm. Staff were wonderful and the location was amazing. I’ll upload pictures from our stay. I definitely will be back.

For a hotel it was good, but for a Marriott, it was quite poor. Very rude female staff member. Receptionist’s are quite flustered, i don’t think it’s appropriate to moan about things in front of guests waiting. She kept telling me to come back a lot later than the check in time because they were expecting a lot of guests.. but she didn’t say this to any other guests. I also heard another receptionist telling the couple the breakfast is cheaper if they add it on now.. where as when i asked about breakfast, she just told me to pay at the restaurant, at the standard price. I was also ID where as i didnt see any other guests being ID and i felt she was questioning me whether i booked the stay.. it was very odd. I loved the restaurant! The pool area was great, it is outside so lots of bugs in the pool though. My room was enjoyable and comfy, but could be a bit cleaner. I enjoyed how close everything was but my last day, really ruined things. I booked for room service; breakfast. It arrived on time and I paid at the door to the lady in charge of room service. The items had foil to cover but there was a small fruit fly in my apple juice. She forgot my toast as well. never the less I enjoyed the meal. At checkout the lady said I had some room charges. The lady in charge of room service hadn’t confirmed that I had already paid, when I received it. We waited for her to come to the desk to confirm I’d paid. whilsting we were waiting the receptionist asked how was everything and I explained my couple negatives, and she said you should tell her this when she gets here.. which I thought was odd and inappropriate. When she arrived she told her and I said yes my toast was missing and there was a fruit fly in my drink. She was very defensive immediately and jumped to ‘you didn’t tick toast’. I had luckily taken a picture of my order sheet where you can clearly see it doesn’t ask you to tick for toast under the full English option. She said I should have ticked for toast under the continental breakfast.. but that looks like a different request. Also if I didn’t tick toast, then how come I got all the other aspects of the full English that don’t ask me to tick it? She then said I was lucky she only charged me for a full English and not the continental breakfast yoghurt and fruit, as well… so you’re telling me if I eat in the restaurant it’s £18.50 for full English buffet and continual buffet as much as you like, but if I order room service, plus the £5 tray charge, it only counts as full English or continental breakfast.. This didn’t seem right and I felt she was rude and unapologetic. I may look a lot younger than I am and I am a POC so I wasn’t surprised I was being belittled by the receptionist staff but I am disappointed with this treatment.
