The Cottage

Castle Hedingham's Norman fortress dominates the village skyline, and this ground-floor cottage sits within easy walking distance of it. The village itself centres on timber-framed buildings and traditional pubs, with the castle hosting medieval reenactments and seasonal events throughout the year. Braintree town is a short drive away if you need anything beyond what the village offers.

The Cottage has one bedroom with a double bed, a bathroom with shower, and an open-plan living and dining space that leads via French doors onto a back garden. The kitchen is fitted for proper cooking—electric oven, gas hob, microwave and fridge—rather than just heating things up. A welcome pack arrives with you. Wifi, electricity, bed linen and towels are included; gas central heating keeps things warm. You get parking for one car on site. The property is for the two of you alone, no smoking indoors.

It works well for couples, solo travellers, or anyone attending an event at the castle. The garden has seating and furniture if you want to sit outside, though it's a shared space with the owner.
