About High Town House, Camping and Fishing

Tucked away near Rattlesden, High Town House offers a peaceful adults-only escape with fishing lakes on site – ideal if you fancy casting a line between exploring nearby Bury St Edmunds. The compact setup keeps things simple, with electric hook-ups, hot showers, and all the essentials including drinking water and waste disposal. Dogs are welcome, so you can bring the whole family (minus the kids).

Campers consistently praise the tranquil setting and friendly, helpful owners who clearly take pride in the place. The lack of WiFi might be a drawback for some, but many find it refreshing to properly switch off. While facilities are fairly basic, they're well-maintained, and the fishing adds a nice touch if you're after something more than just a place to pitch up.

We stayed in a touring caravan for 4 nights commencing 09/07/2025. I agree totally with a previous review, what a Gem of a place. Very quiet, stunning and peaceful adults only site that is beautifully kept and tucked away amongst stunning countryside. The 12 pitches are spacious and set around the perimeter of the site so all look out onto the pretty fishing lake. The showers are immaculate and clean and match any hotel bathroom. The owners are very friendly, helpful and relaxed. We had great weather which gave us magnificent sunsets and sunrises although the setting would be lovely in any weather. It is a simple site and excellent value for money. The local pubs are ‘proper pubs’ and the ones we visited had a typical countryside atmosphere. We have stayed at many sites and this is now one of my favourites and we will definitely be returning.

We stayed one night at High Town House camping while visiting friends in the area and I'm very glad we did! On arrival there is a board with your name on telling you which pitch is yours as we had pre booked via phone the day before. There are 12 pitches on the site and they are very well kept and very spacious which is nice to have. There are two toilets and showers which I have to say definitely match the quality not quantity idea as they are immaculate with plenty of room to get out of the shower dry off and get changed though make sure you have changed for the shower as £1 gets you 5 minutes of time and 20p 1 minute but I think it's very fair as they are well maintained. To be honest probably some of the best facilities I've used at a campsite and I've stayed at a few! The owner was very nice and helpful as well and there is fishing available if you fancy that. Would recommend a stay if you are after a nice relaxed and quiet campsite

A very big thank you. What a gem of a campsite, the owners were very welcoming. The pitches were spacious & immaculately kept. The 2 showers & washing up area were also immaculate. We will return as it was a lovely peaceful break & we certainly came away feeling recharged.
