Roseberry Tourist Park

Earith Rd, Willingham, Cambridge CB24 5LT, UK

All-year park on a former pear orchard, about ten miles from Cambridge

About Roseberry Tourist Park

Roseberry sits on ten acres of level ground at Willingham, north-west of Cambridge, on what was once a commercial pear orchard - a few of the old trees still line the boundaries. The 90 pitches are generously spaced across hardstandings, grass and dedicated tent areas, all with smart-metered electric hook-ups and many with water too. Mark and Jackie run the site with resident wardens, and a secure barrier entrance makes it a comfortable base if you're leaving a van to explore the city by day.

Heated toilet blocks, laundry, a dog exercise area and an adults-only section kept separate from the family zone give both groups the atmosphere they're after. Year-round opening is unusual for Cambridgeshire and useful if you want Cambridge in the quieter months. Willingham has shops and pubs, the guided busway park-and-ride at Longstanton runs into the city without touching the traffic, and St Ives, Ely and the RSPB reserve at Fen Drayton Lakes are all close. Booking is advisable; bank holiday rates are a few pounds higher, and pitch fees are quoted separately from metered electricity.

Phoned up half an hour away and was very helpful when booking and had hard standing pitches at a reasonable price and the site and facilities are kept clean and tidy. Well spaced pitches that are clean all with water and electric on a meter but didnt use. Was a good spot to stay the night.

We first had the pleasure of using this campsite in July 2001, when it was a favourite with American RVs and 5th Wheelers for its generous pitch sizes. Perhaps this was because the park owners in those days enjoyed the benefits of their own American motorhome: an example of mobile living that was unparalleled at that time. Now their son has taken over and the spacious site is suitable for all – caravans, motorhomes, campervans and tents. Touring, seasonal and permanent pitches are available and there is a paddock for exercising dogs, but not children as it is an Adults Only site (and the more peaceful for that!) The library in the information hut is a treasure trove of books and films. The price is good, the facilities immaculate, with plenty of water taps among the pitches, and electricity metered and paid for according to use. It also has convenient access to the A14 (and hence the A1), with Cambridge on the horizon. We have enjoyed riding into that cycle-friendly town alongside the Guided Bus Route, joining it nearby in Swavesey or Longstanton. Willingham village and shops are only 1.5 miles away, though access is along a busy road with no pavement.

Great camp site with lots of pear trees. The couple that run the site are very helpful and keep all the facilities to a high standard.you will need a car or motorbike to get around as there is no bus stop near by. Heading towards st Ives there is a pub called the marsh harrier which does great affordable food and heading towards Willingham there is the porter pub which also does fantastic food.

A lovely quiet, clean and tidy tourist park. We were staying overnight to break up a long journey home. Staff were very friendly. We would stay there again, especially if we visit Ely again. It isn't a hotel, so some questions are not relevant.
