About Lantern House

Chesterton Road runs alongside the River Cam on the edge of central Cambridge, and it's here that Lantern House offers a straightforward base for exploring the city. The setting is quiet and residential, with the water nearby and the colleges and shops within easy reach on foot.

Rooms are simple and functional, each with an en-suite bathroom and complimentary drinks, plus free WiFi throughout. This is an unassuming guesthouse rather than a grand hotel, and the rooms reflect that: comfortable and practical rather than elaborate. Outside, guests can make use of the garden, picnic area and outdoor seating, and there's 24 hour reception for whenever you arrive or need assistance.

Free on-site parking is a real plus in a city where that's often hard to come by, and there are pubs, restaurants and other eateries nearby for evening meals, along with entertainment and a golf course within reach for those wanting to venture further. It's a sensible choice for visitors who want a comfortable, no-nonsense stay close to the river and the centre of Cambridge.

Miss leading internet photo there is no guest house rosette outside door to convince you to book. Room up to a 1 star standard needs thorough clean. no tea or coffee in room. there is small kitchen for all occupants ( residents and guests ) but no milk and pay for drinks machine. Ground floor curtains thin very light at night and always closed with no window locks. Location is good and at least the beds where ok if you just want basic and cheap then it's for you. ( We won't be stopping again )

Beware of bedbugs! Chinches en la habitación! Horrible experience. We checked in to have a rest before visiting Cambridge: the bed was full of bedbugs (we counted at least 4, one full of blood), very filthy place, not clean. We had to book another room to spend the night and even in that hour nap I was bitten. Do not book here.

Cheap and cheerful. The Lantern Guest House is a little bit rough around the edges, but it's clean and the beds are comfortable. Our group of four spent a long weekend here as the HQ for a stag, the staff that helped us over the phone were polite and accomodating. The guest house itself is a 25 / 30 minute walk from the town centre or a 15 minute scoot on one of the Voi electric scooter rentals that are dotted around Cambridge. We had no issues checking in or out and the rooms were clean and airy. Thanks for having us.

A guest house? But more of "bed and breakfast" auto guest house. From day 1 till my Day 8, from check in to check out in this apartment, I met no one, no house keeper, no other guest. But the experience was worth it. The environment was serene and secure. The needs as a guest for the duration of my stay were provided. There was free internet service. Although could not enjoy TV as fir whatever reasons, the subscription to a paid digital satellite TV services had expired and was not renewed throughout my stay All in all, it's a place worth staying for any guest in Cambridge
