An owner-run Victorian villa on Chesterton Road with air-conditioned en-suite rooms, free parking and a cooked-to-order breakfast made by the owner.
About Worth House
Worth House is a Victorian villa of 1890 at 152 Chesterton Road, run personally by Guido and Maria, and it has built a strong reputation among visitors who want something more welcoming and better value than a chain hotel. The house sits north of the river, about 500 metres from the Cam and a fifteen-minute walk from the colleges across Jesus Green or Midsummer Common, with buses along Chesterton Road if the weather turns.
Rooms are spacious for a guest house and were refurbished in January 2026. All are en-suite, and each has air conditioning - genuinely useful in a Cambridge summer, and rare at this price - along with a 43-inch smart television, complimentary drinks tray and free wi-fi. The decoration is contemporary and uncluttered rather than fussily traditional, and the house is quiet at night despite the road frontage.
Breakfast is the thing regular guests talk about. Maria cooks a varied menu freshly to order, and genuine Italian espresso and cappuccino are available at the table rather than the usual filter jug. Free parking is provided, which is a real consideration on this side of the city, and the owners are happy to help with restaurant bookings, punting and directions. They also note that booking direct sometimes secures a better rate than the online calendar shows, and that the calendar does not always accept single-night stays - a phone call or email is worth it if your dates are awkward.
What guests say
I literally would give them 10 stars if I could! I had an amazing stay, I was sad I booked it for one night only. Guido and Maria really think about everything, from the very comfortable mattress, super clean bathroom and room, to the amazing breakfast with tasty homemade meals, and everything in between (very nice touch adding fresh milk in the room fridge, with vegan option too, Italian biscuits, coffee, tea...), you really feel at home. Also, you get to have a nice chat in the breakfast room, which I didn't want to leave, except I had to go to work! I'll definitely come back! Grazie di tutto ❤️

Nice b&b, nice owners. Everything was thought of. Would stay here again. Only a 20 min walk into the middle of Cambridge.

My better half booked this one!! But a great find. Conveniently located from central Cambridge, close enough to walk into and on a main bus route so a car not really needed. We were in town for a graduation and found Worth House to fulfill all our requirements. Now the host, Guido, simply put welcoming! Accommodating and helpful and friendly, definitely made our stay memorable. Maria’s breakfast were delicious…. Room was spotless, proper sized mugs provided so you could enjoy a proper cup of tea!! Rooms were turned over with clean bath towels provided each day which I found really welcome. All in all an excellent choice for a short stay close to a fantastic city! Highly recommended

Simply outstanding. Comfortable, clean, and prettty close (10 minute beautiful walk along the river) to town. First class rooms with every detail thought through and delicious breakfast. Guido and Marie extremely friendly, courteous and can't do enough to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. They've perfected hospitality for a few days in Cambridge so if you're hesitating, just don't.
