About The Golden Ball Hotel

A cosy bar and a menu of classic British food set the tone at The Golden Ball Hotel, a 16th-century pub-turned-hotel on Cambridge's High Street. Breakfast is served each morning, and the bar remains a relaxed spot for a drink whether or not you're staying the night.

There are 11 rooms, kept simple rather than plush, with free WiFi and air conditioning included. The building's age gives it plenty of character, and beyond the restaurant and bar there's a garden, free on-site parking, luggage storage and concierge services, plus meeting rooms and business facilities for those travelling with work in mind. It also operates as a wedding venue.

The High Street location puts guests within reach of Cambridge's cultural landmarks and transport links, making it a straightforward base for exploring the city on foot. It suits visitors after a traditional, no-frills stay with good food close at hand rather than a modern boutique finish.

A great proper pub. We held a celebration of our mum's life there, as she loved this pub, over the years we had visited. Staff are amazing, couldn't do enough for us so kind, friendly and helpful, food was really good, just a buffet for our guests. Who all said it was lovely. Thank you for all you did for us to have made it a memorable day. Recommend the Golden Ball. They do have rooms to stay, but we didn't use them.

Lovely Sunday roast lunch! We came to the Golden Ball on a Sunday for lunch and it was a really great visit! A couple of us had starters which were really tasty. We all had Sunday roasts and they were absolutely delicious - great variety of vegetables, tasty roast potatoes and complete with whopping a yorkshire pudding! All of us had desserts- 2 crumbles and 1 sticky toffee pudding, all of which were delicious. The staff were very friendly and provided good service throughout. We will definitely be going back! Thank you :)

Yes a nice place to eat. The food is very good and you get quiet a big portion. The atmosphere is warm and cosy but some of the dining chairs have seen better days. Some are quite grubby and stained and need replacing and the carpet is a little sticky in places. That said it's a nice place for a get together and has a good selection of beers.

Another lovely family meal to celebrate a special occasion. 🎉🥳The food was lovely as were the staff. It was a real bonus being able to use the private room so that our noisy ( enthusiastic) family didnt disturb anyone ! Many thanks to all 😁
