Just five rooms above a working pub on Cambridge's High Street, The Kings Head sits close to King's College and the River Cam.
About The Kings Head
With only five rooms, The Kings Head is a small inn rather than a hotel in the usual sense, occupying a spot on the High Street in central Cambridge. It's built around a working pub, and that character shapes the whole stay: guests come here for a straightforward, unfussy base rather than polished corridors and room service trolleys.
Rooms are simple and comfortable, with air conditioning, free WiFi and drinks available in-room, and breakfast is served each morning. Downstairs there's a bar and restaurant to eat and drink in, plus a garden to sit out in when the weather allows. The property also handles meetings and weddings, and offers business services and childcare, so it caters to more than just overnight guests. Free on-site parking is a practical bonus in a city where that's often hard to come by.
The location puts King's College and the River Cam within easy reach, making it a sensible base for exploring central Cambridge on foot. It won't suit anyone after a large, glossy hotel, but for a low-key stay in a genuine pub setting, it does the job.

What guests say
Phew. Where to begin? Carpet needs to be changed. Room cramped and very tired. Bed support stained. Loo crammed into a corner. plastic kettle (These plastic kettles are endocrine disruptors – that should be banned!) Sickly sweet room freshener to mask who knows what—The chemical smell of it caused me breathing problems. Price is simply not justified for the quality. I paid 80 pounds. It should be around 50 pounds at most. If they were to spend a few thousand and upgrade the place, maybe. But right now, I’d recommend you find somewhere else.

Ignore any older comments about the rooms. We booked to stay here (2 adults, 1 child and a dog) and the rooms had clearly been recently refurbished. Beds were comfy, shower was clean and worked great, couldn't fault the room whatsoever. Didn't eat or drink in the pub, but very much enjoyed our breakfasts the next morning. Owners were lovely too. Would definitely recommend

Second time visiting, first time staying here. This is an extremely friendly and welcoming pub, staff and locals alike, really enjoy visiting. Rooms were really clean and spacious. A really enjoyable stay.

Friendly staff, good beer selection but don't currently serve food. Enough eating options available in town to address yiur hunger. Stayed in their B&B for one night. Thought the room was comfortable and clean. Had TV, fan, mini fridge and tea/coffee. Only disappointment was nothing was said about breakfast and it was a prepacked croissant, pot of yogurt and banana in the room. Felt that was a bit below expectation. Otherwise, happy.
