Yew Tree Park is a small, family-run site five miles south of Canterbury on the old Roman road through the Kent Downs, built around returning visitors who value proper quiet and grounds that are clearly cared for. The setting is rolling chalk downland with hedgerows, dark skies and sheep in the next field—a genuine novelty this close to a city. The headline draw is an outdoor swimming pool, unusual for a park of this size and very welcome after a hot day walking the Downs. There's also a children's play area, and the surrounding land offers footpaths, fishing and horse riding within easy reach.
Pitches take tents, tourers and motorhomes, with hook-ups and shower blocks on site. One important caveat: dogs are not accepted, which rules Yew Tree out for many campers but does keep the fields notably peaceful. Canterbury is a ten-minute drive or manageable cycle downhill; Chilham's square and castle grounds are west, and the coast at Hythe and Folkestone around twenty-five minutes south. The park operates spring to autumn and fills quickly for school holidays, so book ahead.
