Marlais

Carmarthenshire

Marlais began as a milking parlour on a working beef farm. The conversion has left it with unobstructed views across the Towy Valley towards the Brecon Beacons, which rise beyond the open countryside. The property sits between Llandovery and Llandeilo, on the edge of the national park; you'll need a car to get here and to explore the wider area, but the location puts you within reach of high moorland, gorges, waterfalls and woodland in one direction, and the Pembrey coast—seven miles of sandy beach—in another.

There are two bedrooms (one double, one twin) and two bathrooms. Downstairs, a living room with a wood-burning stove and a kitchen/dining room with a gas hob and electric oven open onto a lawned garden with patio seating and a barbecue. Wifi, heating, electricity, bed linen and towels are included. The property is yours alone; parking for one car is on site. No smoking inside.

The Brecon Beacons themselves—threaded with walking routes, cycle trails and bridleways—are the main draw, along with the National Botanic Garden of Wales and Aberglasney gardens nearby. The closest pub is within a mile. Pembrey Country Park, ten miles south, has nature reserves, pony trekking and a dry slope. The wetland reserves near Llanelli attract migrating birds. A shop, pub and restaurant are five miles away in either direction.
