About Dulais Valley Meadow
Tucked into a 14-acre smallholding with sweeping views to the Brecon Beacons, Dulais Valley Meadow offers just one shepherd's hut in a wildflower meadow – perfect for couples craving proper solitude in rural Carmarthenshire. The hut itself feels genuinely cosy: a woodburner takes the chill off cooler evenings, while the kitchen (solid oak worktop, gas hob, fridge) handles self-catering admirably. There's a proper double bed, under-bed storage and even a TV for the occasional rainy afternoon.
Days here might begin collecting fresh eggs for breakfast, spotting red kites circling overhead or arranging a lambing experience in spring. The owners hold fishing rights along the Dulais River, and walkers have the Beacons and Carmarthenshire's web of trails within easy striking distance. It's completely off-grid but thoughtfully appointed, with renewable energy and composting facilities keeping things low-impact. Note that the site is adults-only and doesn't accept dogs – a small trade-off for the birdsong-and-starlight serenity you'll enjoy come nightfall.

Joe and Amy were truly outstanding hosts who have created something really special. The extra touches of the welcome treats were a delightful surprise and greatly appreciated. They made our holiday feel like a proper celebration. The photos cannot do justice to the peace and beauty or the level of comfort and attention to detail provided. We enjoyed mesmerising views of the valley and hills in ever changing light. There are many lovely spots to sit and watch time pass, the picnic table, the fire pit, hot tub and bed. The shower had great water pressure and the composting toilet was a perfectly clean and comfortable experience. On the day we ventured out to explore, Joe and Amy had the spa perfectly warmed for our return, and when we departed they came to see us off and we enjoyed chatting and getting to know them a little better before we began our homeward journey. You can't beat this little retreat. Thank you Joe and Amy for such a lovely holiday experience!

A slice of heaven! The hut was fabulous, really homely with great facilities. The wood-fired hot tub was a welcome treat every evening after lots of walking. Was lovely to be greeted by the animals on our way to and from the hut! Secluded, peaceful and everything we needed. Amy was a great host too, pre-empting our need for more wood and quick to respond to any communication. Would thoroughly recommend!

An amazing place to visit!! Amy and Joe go above and beyond to make your stay perfect. The small welcome gifts, the locally resourced products, the knowledge of the local area, the beautiful animals, watching red kites gliding above our heads whilst relaxing in the hot tub and the peace and tranquility of the remote location creates a magical experience for all that stay. We can highly recommend a stay at Dulais Valley Meadow

What a wonderful place to stay! We loved spending evenings in the hot tub and cooking on the fire pit. The shepherds hut was well stocked with lots of thoughtful details. Amy was really helpful during our stay, providing eggs and checking everything was ok, but not being intrusive. Would absolutely recommend Dulais Valley and we would love to come back! Thanks so much ☺️
