Tynrhos Lake View sits on a working fisheries in Cilcennin, where you have the run of a single-storey lodge with views across the water. The whole place is yours, with a double bedroom, sofa bed in the living area, and a shower room; everything on ground level, two steps to the front door. The kitchen has an electric hob, combi oven, dishwasher and fridge. Wi-Fi, heating, bed linen and towels are all included. There's parking for one car and a front garden with seating. One well-behaved dog is welcome.
An 11-minute drive takes you to Aberaeron, where Georgian townhouses crowd the harbourside and independent cafés, shops and restaurants line the streets. Further down the coast, New Quay clings to the clifftops above Cardigan Bay—a known haunt of bottlenose dolphins. Llanerchaeron, a National Trust estate just south of Aberaeron, opens its Georgian rooms and farm shop to visitors. Head inland towards Tregaron and the Cors Caron nature reserve, or explore the Cambrian Mountains. This corner of Ceredigion works as a base for fishing, walking, or simply spending time away from the everyday.
