About Hornsbury Mill
Chard's local attractions are within easy reach of Hornsbury Mill, with golf and fishing nearby and a choice of pubs and restaurants for evenings out, making it a practical base for exploring this part of Somerset. The mill itself is the real draw, though, with its lake, resident ducks and working waterwheel creating a calm spot to return to after a day out.
The hotel has 10 rooms, all en-suite, including accessible options, with free WiFi and the usual comforts expected of a country hotel. A lift serves the building, and there's a bridal suite for those booking the venue for a wedding. Public spaces include a restaurant and bar, gardens with outdoor seating and a picnic area, and meeting rooms for business use.
Food is a strength here, particularly the Sunday roasts, which come with generous portions and plenty of fresh vegetables. Breakfast and packed lunches are available, and staff are consistently attentive and welcoming. Free on-site parking, luggage storage and laundry service round out the practical side, while the garden setting with its waterwheel and lake gives the place a genuine sense of place rather than a generic hotel stay.

What guests say
This is our third visit to the Hornsbury Mill and we enjoyed so much that we booked for another night. We were greeted warmly by the owner Tony as well as the Manager and his team. Our room was comfortable and spotlessly clean. We had booked a table in their restaurant for our evening meal and we were looked after very well by Lily. Our meal was beautifully presented and tasted delicious and prepared by their outstanding head chef Chris and his highly skilled culinary team. We can thoroughly recommend this restaurant as the food is exceptional and dining becomes an experience rather than just a meal. Lily went above and beyond as she had arranged for the chef to create a Happy Retirement plated dessert as a surprise for me. We shall definitely be returning to this hotel and have recommended to our family and friends.

This is an absolute little gem! We've stayed here on two occasions, for a cheeky night away, and both times have been fabulous. The rooms are cosy, quiet and with plenty of little extra touches. The beds are lovely, with soft, fresh linen and fluffy pillows. The rooms are spotlessly clean with fresh, modern bathrooms. Breakfast is outstanding, and the staff are super. We also had a fantastic Sunday lunch here, with very generous portions, served with lashings of piping hot vegetables and jugs of steaming gravy!

I absolutely ADORE this gorgeous little hotel! I stay as often as I can. It is in a beautiful setting. The rooms are all different and beautiful, full of character. All very comfortable with all of the amenities you would expect. The staff are so helpful and friendly. Nothing is too much trouble. Breakfast is beautifully cooked, with lots of options. The restaurant is the icing on the cake. It is wonderful to see the exposed waterwheel. The new chef, Chris, will certainly put the restaurant on the map! The food is sublime, high end, and to top it all, really good value for money.
