Barley Hill Pod sits alone in its own field near Chard, surrounded by oak trees and quiet enough that wildlife—nuthatches, woodpeckers, kingfishers—passes through regularly. The only sounds are the occasional tractor on distant country roads. Ground floor throughout, the pod contains a double bedroom, shower room, and open-plan living and kitchen space. Bed linen, towels and electricity are included; underfloor heating and additional heaters keep things warm. The kitchen has an electric cooker and full basics for self-catering.
Outside, a wooden deck overlooks the garden with seating, a table and chairs, and a barbecue for cooking. The private hot tub operates from April to October. One car can park on site. The pod is adults only, and smoking is not permitted.
From here, the Jurassic Coast lies about 30 minutes south, and the Somerset coast is also within reasonable reach. The Blackdown Hills offer walking country nearby. For two people seeking a quiet break away from anything built-up, this works well.

We had such a lovely stay at this pod! The hot tub was a real highlight—perfect for relaxing and taking in the peaceful surroundings. It’s incredibly quiet and tranquil, exactly what we were looking for. Kate was very welcoming, meeting us on arrival and showing us around, which made us feel right at home. We’ll definitely be coming back!

We stayed here for our honeymoon and what a little gem it was. It was so peaceful and private right down by the stream. The pod was kitted out with everything you might need. Kate was amazing meeting us on arrival and suggesting things to do in the area. We will definitely be returning.
