About Warner Cricket St Thomas Hotel
Rooms at Warner Cricket St Thomas Hotel come with en-suite bathrooms and the reassurance of 24 hour reception, though some are a little dated rather than freshly refurbished, so this is a hotel that trades on setting and atmosphere as much as decor. What guests get on arrival is a base within Somerset parkland, close to the Chard countryside, with the option to head out for walks across the estate grounds, which are well maintained and form one of the property's strongest features.
Downstairs, the restaurant and bar cover breakfast through to evening entertainment, with a good range of choices at meal times and breakfasts that stand out in particular. There's also a spa and sauna on-site, along with an indoor swimming pool, giving guests something to do without leaving the grounds. Staff are consistently described as friendly and helpful, which goes some way to making up for the rooms not being the most modern.
Nearby, there's fishing on offer along with pubs, bars and restaurants a short trip away, useful for anyone wanting to venture beyond the hotel grounds. It suits guests looking for a traditional country hotel stay in Somerset, with grounds and facilities that do most of the work.

Hello people you’re probably wondering why just the 1 star rating so here goes !,,, If I was to rate the hotel on looks and location then it would score 5 out of 5 , but sadly behind the charm of the location it’s incredibly different. Having spent several thousand for a 5 nite stay for 4 of us over 2 rooms this was our experiences. On arrival we found it very difficult to understand the layout of the complex and being directed several times before finally finding the correct reception. When checking in we asked where our rooms were to only be told by the young lady I’m not sure as not been here long , so had to find our rooms and given that there are hundreds of rooms is was very challenging. On enter the room seemed nice but was scorching hot and many people had there windows open and even there doors in the corridors , but we found that reception will supply you with a fan but despite paying several thousand pounds for the experience we were required to pay a daily hire charge lol. Over the course of the week both our rooms only had 1 sheet and duvet cover change despite being told it was daily, The bathroom was cleaned as my tooth paste resin stayed in the sink from day 1 No hoovering of room and just hard work if I’m honest, very dirty was the bathroom with mould and blackening of the grout on the tiles, All the complementary shampoos were empty and not topped up. Anyway moving on from this, Warner advertise a Taylored experience of dining 😂 So this is what happens folks you cue up with dozens of other residents for the experience to be given a table number that you sit at all week and then you grab a plate and you serve yourself food from a buffet style set up before squeezing past people to sit down and eat. If you decide to have something off the specials board you will be bought your food , but it will arrive in around a minute because it’s all cooked in large orders and its flavour less same for starters in fact the whole experience of food is the same as a All week the staff were rushed off there feet which led to us experiencing orders coming out wrong or drinks missing off orders , on one occasion I waited 50 minutes for a Diet Coke to be bought out to me so I went back in to ask what the delay was to be told they didn’t have my order , I was then given my drink with a ridiculous attitude told there’s no charge ok and not even a apology. Warner advertise the west end show case experience every evening with live music from artists but sadly guys and gals it’s nothing much more than Karaoke, it’s not horrendous but it’s not great like it’s sold to you , and having spoken to the cabaret most are over worked and under payed like a little over minimum wage, not only this I found across the whole complex over worked under payed staff which I feel is awful because the staff mostly are wonderful, yet not appreciated. Activities 😂😂 well the draw of the activities before booking was Shooting /Archery/axe throwing/ On our arrival we couldn’t book shooting fully booked, no axe throwing and 1 space for archery despite 4 of us there for a week , and just rubbish really absolutely gutting. But have no fear they have a wonderful games room with snooker tables darts, table tennis 😂😂 So there was one snooker table filthy dirty not been cleaned for months 2 broken snooker cues and no extensions, The table tennis had a nice table but the batts were falling apart and balls mostly dented or split, and the table football lol well unplayable as the handles fall off when attempting to play. Disappointed is an understatement . In the middle of the complex is a parish church and so very lovely it is but the local vicar eccentric as he is apologised to us and many others on behalf of the Taylor family who own the estate for the miss sold experience customers receive and that’s the truth god as my witness. On the last day both my partner and I contracted conjunctivitis to which we believe was caused by either the dirty swimming pool or our rooms that just weren’t cleaned. .

The location of Cricket St Thomas is absolutely beautiful, nestled perfectly in the Somerset countryside. The grounds themselves are stunning and incredibly well-maintained—a real highlight of the stay. Every member of the staff we encountered was friendly, courteous, and helpful. Check-in was very fast, though it lacked a bit of essential detail. We were handed our keys and told where to park, but weren't given directions to our accommodation. As a result, we had to go for quite a long walk around the site just to find our room. One major disappointment for us was that the terrace bar in Cricket House was shut in the evenings. Having stayed at various other hotels, sitting outside with a drink, chatting, and taking in the beautiful evening scenery is always the thing we look forward to the most. Closing this area in the evening felt like a real missed opportunity given how gorgeous the Somerset setting is. The activities around the resort felt a bit sparse overall, though the shooting and archery we tried were great and highly enjoyable. As for the entertainment, it was a bit of a mixed bag. The general in-house entertainment was unfortunately quite poor. However, the featured guest acts were a massive saving grace! "Jackie" on Friday night was fantastic, and of course, the Illegal Eagles were absolutely brilliant and a major highlight of the trip. The weekend itinerary used to be printed for your stay they are on screens now. Difficult to remember timings and what's going on where as we used to carry itinerary with us now we are photographing screens on our phones However this isnt the best Warner Hotel we've stayed in i think we've put this at the bottom so far.

Smooth check in, beautiful spacious rooms, luxurious accommodation, clean, peaceful. Dining experience enhanced by the service. Alternatives to a daily roast would be a suggestion. All staff very pleasant and polite. Days are enhanced by various activities. Evening entertainment and the Warner team were enthusiastic (Josh) and understood how to engage the room. Great Eurovision weekend other than Bucks Fizz who had definitely lost their fizz.
