About Driftaway Camping Woodlands
Here's a little Somerset smasher. Driftaway Camping Woodlands is a small and secluded site five minutes' drive from Chard – so petite, in fact, that you and your group may be able to hire the whole place out to have this sweet rural retreat all to your deserving selves.
Comfy but down-to-earth quarters are ready and waiting for guests as they arrive, all kitted out with pre-pitched tents so folk can throw their bags down and explore a comely site of meadow and woodland. There's a stream to follow, a pond home to newts and frogs, and proper campfire pitches for evenings spent cooking outdoors. (Although if you fancy a rest, your friendly proprietors will deliver freshly cooked meals to your fireside, or knock up picnics for daytime wanderings.)
The local area has surfing, swimming and fossil digging on the beaches, hill walks and cliff climbs, journeys through the ancient and more recent history of the West Country, and encounters with deer and meerkats. Just don't expect posh trappings like fancy ovens or ensuite bathrooms – this is off-grid camping at its simplest.

What visitors say
Our whole family had a wonderful weekend stay at Driftaway for our 50th wedding celebration. The setting is beautiful. The facilities are exceptional. The owners are inviting, warm and extremely helpful. They also provided us with a delicious meal, which we enjoyed enormously without us having to do any work for it. We will go again.

We stayed in the Safari tent for a few days it was a great experience. We felt special as we had the place to ourselves, our own toilet, kitchen and shower to ourselves. Everything was very functional and they have thought of lots of details. Liz and Nigel were so generous. One detail I really liked, and its a small one, but was that the detergent they supplied was Eco friendly, its was just a nice touch:) Anyway we had a lovely, peaceful time here.

I had booked a hammock camping spot over at another site, who had unfortunately failed to inform me that they'd overbooked, leaving me 4hrs away from home with no where to go. I pulled up Google maps and found Drift Away camping and I asked them if I could stay that night for 4 nights within their woodland with 2 of my friends and they saved my bacon. We paid 160, had a fire pit, access to clean toilets, a kitchen, fire wood, a shower and safe parking for my motorbike. Everyday we bumped into the owners they were super friendly and generous. The yurts looked lovely, will have to book them at some point in the future. Thank you so much guys, you saved my holiday.

This is the best glampsite I have ever been to. Everything you need is there and Liz and Nigel are so Friendly. If you are a camper who does not like cooking there are always the breakfast hampers, picnic packs or evening meals to choose from cooked by Liz. Inside the yurt is warm cosy and home like. Each pitch has its own chemical toilet and shower shed with a fridge. To continue, each pitch has its own over fire cooking set and board games. The tents come with all the cooking equipment but i would recommend bringing olive oil. Overall it was the best experience of glamping ever as it was so peaceful and relaxing. Will definitely come back. Thank you Liz and Nigel!!!
