About Oddfellows On The Park

Afternoon tea with fresh scones and a well-regarded ribeye steak are the sort of details that stand out at Oddfellows On The Park, a 22-room hotel set beside Bruntwood Park in Cheadle, Greater Manchester. The parkland setting gives it a quiet edge over the local area while still keeping shops and amenities within easy reach.

Rooms come with en-suite bathrooms, air conditioning and drinks in room, with family and accessible rooms also available for those who need them. Guests can expect free WiFi, room service and laundry service as standard, and there's a garden with outdoor seating and a picnic area for making the most of the grounds.

The restaurant and bar are a focus here, with breakfast, kids' meals and a snack bar covering most appetites, backed up by staff who are generally friendly and attentive, though service has occasionally been inconsistent. Beyond the hotel, there's a golf course, cycling routes and pubs and restaurants nearby, plus concierge and business services for those combining leisure with work. On-site parking is available, though it comes at an extra charge.

I took my mum to Oddfellows on the park for an afternoon treat in the sun on the terrace and had a lovely time. I want to give a special thank you to a member of staff called Amanda, who was fantastic throughout our visit. She was working on reception as well as serving at the bar, and despite being busy she was so friendly, helpful and accommodating, especially towards my disabled mother. She really went above and beyond to make sure Mum was comfortable and looked after, which we really appreciated. It's always the people who make a place memorable, and Amanda definitely did that for us. Great atmosphere, great service and we'll definitely be back.

We never leave feedback , but our recent stay here was a mixed bag that management needs to know about. The room itself was disappointing: dusty, dirty and lacking personal touches and most noticeably the temperatures were ridiculous - false advertisement of aircon ... We also didn’t manage to secure a reservation in the restaurant. However, Hamera on reception completely turned our night around. She went above and beyond, giving us local food recommendations and setting up a table in the bar so we could eat. She is an absolute credit to the hotel. Initially, the parking caused us trouble too. My partner became quite poorly very recently so parking a distance away wasn’t ideal. Some time after, Hamera spotted a free parking space and called up to our room to make us aware of this, we then moved our car. While most of the team are great, the younger staff definitely need more training. Seeing staff huddled up chatting and lounging in public guest areas isn't acceptable. The business clearly needs to prioritise their guests and staff rather than sugarcoating their faults. It seems as though only a handful of staff were happy to do their job - and for this they need to be applauded as they have good efforts . This hotel has so much potential, and I hope management addresses these issues.

Your Continental Breakfast offerings need to be brought into the 21st century. Whilst there may be some folk who eat corn flakes and coco pops etc. many people are more discerning and would appreciate natural muesli, granola, cheese, cold meat, fresh fruit, nuts, organic yoghurts etc. as a move to a healthier diet. I ordered the yoghurt, fruit and granola option - frankly it was awful. A large bowl with a vast amount of runny yoghurt, some sort of coulis and a small amount of granola, plus a small bowl with about 20 grapes and a couple of bits of melon. What a lousy fruit selection - hardly fresh seasonal fruit! Does the hotel not have strawberries, apples, blueberries, other berries, or even bananas, pineapple etc.? The cooked breakfasts were very good, however. We stayed in a suite but frankly it had its limitations - and we are being kind here. Bed-side tables should have at least one drawer to hold small belongings. Mine had a Roberts Radio and a telephone which left little room for anything else. We watched a film on the TV but unless you’re happy to sprawl on the bed you have to carry the chair(s) from the other end of the room and find space for them between the bed and the TV (and then take them back again). The water flow from the ceiling shower was very weak. Then there is nowhere to hang any towels in the bathroom , so they end up in a soggy heap or hung from a mirror fitting! We didn’t use the fancy bath that is often seen in rooms these days. I wonder how many people do? It’s wasted space (and near the room door!). If you must have it then it should be integrated into the bathroom area. The result of it being where it is, is a cramped room. Don’t people think about these things at the design phase? On a positive note we appreciated the help and enthusiasm of Amanda at reception on our arrival and departure.

I came to Oddfellows On The Park on Sunday for lunch with my family, including several small children, to celebrate my birthday. I chose the venue so that the children could let off steam in the park after the meal. When I booked the venue the person I spoke to was very helpful. Our servers, Jake and Steph, were lovely. A particular shout out to Jake for coping with the chaos of several small children with humour and efficiency. The dining area was spacious and beautiful, the food (and drink) was delicious and plentiful, and the team had no problems coping with my grandson’s egg allergy. The restaurant was happy for me to bring a birthday cake for our dessert. All the party agreed it was a perfect place to celebrate.
